In a political (real politics, not OMB) and geopolitical way, the fallout is going to be fascinating. It's amazing to watch intelligence agencies using favorable press outlets to go to war with the administration in real time. Crisis severs a lot of ties.
It won't happen, but this is about the best wake up call America can get about the need to purge pretty much our entire ruling elite class. They started one of these wars under faulty pretenses, let both go on too long, completely lost sight of any real objective in both, botched the exit and now are going to lie about it and ask for our applause.
The entire establishment needs a reckoning. We need law enforcement, and we need intelligence. Unfortunately, if we start from scratch - which we should - there isn't even a best and brightest to pull from.

Update on ihometiger--he was picked up in New Orleans this morning and is en route to Uzbekistan. Said his group will arrive late Thursday afternoon after making several fuel and supply stops. I knew he was a really good and funny guy but had no idea how connected he is. He called all of his friends wives and told them he was going to bring them all home alive via a private exchange and extraction as they are in contact via a third party with militants in the area their safe house is in. He said anyone over there who thinks the US military is coming to save them is an idiot as everyone is on their own.
Please say some prayers for all of them.

Our allies were hiding in fear for their lives. They couldn’t make it to the airport. Maybe the 670 were ordinary citizens, but maybe they were able to safely make it to the airport because they had safe passage from the Taliban.
