Supreme Court rejects appeal from parents who lost custody of trans teen

WASHINGTON - The Supreme Court on Monday declined to decide if an Indiana couple who believe children should be raised based on their sex at birth should have lost custody of their teenager, a transgender girl.
The court, without comment, rejected an appeal from the teen’s parents who’d warned that cases similar to theirs are likely to reoccur “due to developing conflicts between parents and their children concerning gender identity.”

The state said the parents, self-described devout Christians, lost custody not because of their views but because of the medical necessity of addressing the teen’s severe eating disorder.
A provision of Indiana law that is similar to statutes in nearly every state allows government intervention in “a variety of situations in which even well-intentioned parent find themselves unable to prevent serious harm,” the state told the court.

This is not going to end well in any way shape or form.
Either Child Services will ramp up shite like this or some parents will shoot Child Services attempting to do this.
You don’t frick with momma bear’s cubs.

What happened to the much-ballyhooed "separation between church and state"?

ACB's $2MM book deal for her "memoirs" really paying dividends for the matrix

It has nothing to do with that. If I belong to a cult that believes children should be left outside overnight in freezing weather the state will confiscate my children. If I don't belong to a cult, but I leave my kids out in freezing weather, the state will also confiscate my kids. It has nothing to do with religion.
It's the same thing that makes murder illegal regardless of whether the murderer felt compelled to it by his faith.

She's Catholic and has ties to Louisiana. You're not allowed to disparage her on this board.

I dont think it that simple. If momma bear is not addressing a child's eating disorder, should the state interfere? I think most folks are comfortable with the state intervening when it comes to many forms of neglect. Its gets murky when we start talking about mental illnesses.

Here's to hoping you get to see it first hand, up close and personal.

The OP should have specified that the Indiana Supreme Court declined to take up this case. This doesn't involve the U.S. Supreme Court or ACB.
Nonetheless, I agree that stories like these are infuriating and scary.

Sort of?
What I see this as is the continued attempts by the federal government to grow into positions which usurp individual rights.
Leftists will scream and cry if there's a Christian scene is placed on the lawn of City Hall, claiming that "the separation of church and state" forbids such encroachment by the State. Here, we have the State saying "frick your religion" to literally steal a child from a home simply because the parents aren't buying into the current pseudo-philosophical fad.
It's not that what the family believes is dangerous to the child. Your attempt at comparison fails because it relies on trying to equate what has happened to an extreme exaggeration. No child is dying from frostbite (nor any other condition) due to being taught that there are only two genders.

The state says you can't let your kid starve themselves no matter what church you go to.

Missed that for the glitz and glamor of "trans genocide" bemoanings.
Carry on.

The kid was 16. If it's too stupid to know to eat at that point in its life, then it deserves to starve. This isn’t on the parents. Do you expect the parents to strap the dumbass down and force food down its throat? You would be complaining then, too.
If you read the article, it will tell you this started because of the tranny nonsense, i.e. it was emotional abuse because the parents told their retarded child it really wasn't whatever fairy tale sex it thought it was. CPS was not called in because of the eating disorder. It was merely the excuse used by the state to take away the parents' rights. This all started because the parents didn't want to participate in mental illness.

I could be wrong but as I understand it a bit more complicated. The kid is trans is starving his/herself due to whatever is going on in the household and the parents are not addressing it. If this was one of those cases where the parents were refusing to allow for gender affirming "care" and the state was taking the child it would be easier to make a judgement call against the state imo... but the concern seems to be that the child is suffering from a severe eating disorder so what should the state do?

There are going to be some angry young people in a few years when they wake up from this fairy tale.
Hopefully they go on a revenge tour
