One commentator suggested that he might not be as rich as he claims. And so the returns would be embarrassing, and would mar his image.
The truth of the matter is, his tax returns are no ones business but his and the IRS's.
I don't care how much money DJT avoids paying the IRS.

quote:What does that even mean? It's just word salad.
A POTUS who receives income from government sources to create personal wealth is more than just a fishing expedition. To not investigate this (by either party in the White House) is BS
quote:You do realize the IRS reviews his returns also? Oh, and it's "toe the line" dumbass.
If I had to work all my life and tow the IRS line, should the POTUS face any less scrutiny?
quote:That you think tax returns would tell you this demonstrates your rank stupidity.
Personally, I am not limiting it to just the POTUS and would extend it to both parties in both houses of Congress. If you really want to drain the swamp you need to do it across the board. If we have a POTUS and Congress who do not actually represent their constituency I would like to know about it!
quote:Well, point to your specific example and we'll talk about them
How can a Senator making 150K to 250K per annum and no family money or outside job be worth 50 to 100 million dollars? It just does not add up.

It sucks that the Dems judge shop to the point where every little thing has to require intervention by the SCOTUS to restore sanity.

I'm sure the IRS Cares, but I don't.

That's what's funny.
All of them show their ignorance the moment you ask them what they'd like to focus on to find this evidence of wrongdoing if they got his returns.
They literally have no idea whatsoever what they're even looking for or where one might find it.

Equal justice under the law.
That means the tax code is applicable to all tax paying individuals. No special treatment.

You are going to get a lot of agreement here.

Okay 7 out of 45 presidents have released their tax returns.
That is a bit disingenuous don't you think?
Since 1970
Nixon released returns
Ford did not (but he was appointed and not elected)
Carter released returns
Reagan released returns
Bush Sr released returns
Clinton released returns
Bush Jr released returns
Obama released returns
Since Nixon 100% of the elected POTUS (both R and D) released their returns
Why does Trump (with many more potential conflicts of interest than all the other combined) get the pass?

Is the status of tax returns the determining factor if a president gets treated like a monarch or not?
If he is the only one in roughly 1/2 a century, yes, it is suspicious.

And even then, their tax returns wouldn't spill the beans!

quote:Not really. Just in your mind. Oh, and that wasn't even the question. The question wasn't, "is it suspicious".........the question was.........."are tax return releases a REQUIREMENT for the Presidency".
If he is the only one in roughly 1/2 a century, yes, it is suspicious.
And, the answer is nope.

Yearly tax returns are not really going to reveal a very complete picture of one's "wealth" who has much of it tied up in real estate holdings.
The explanation for why he doesn't want to reveal these are plain as day and everyone really knows it.

Because he says so, which is EVERYONE'S preoperative under the law.
And what conflict are you talking about? You better tell Schiff if you know about some conflicts.

Q: Why are you such a Democrat zealot, on this board of all places?
