How about authors like Louisa May Alcott, Daphne Du Maurier,
Jayne Austin, Cervantes, etc.?
Or she could go the George Elliot route or the Romantic school from the 1800's who were male and female and were enchanted with love and not an old bone amongst them?
Or the modern African authors, libraries have them, although they are far, far from USA standards of living.

What is the deal with this book? One of my kids at a Catholic High School in New Orleans was assigned this. I am looking at it right now. It is a "comic book" of 150 pages. I hate comic books and really don't feel like reading the perspectives of teenage girls of any culture or ideology.
