Both types of pickles are made from cucumbers.
The difference is in how you prepare the cucumbers.

quote:I've got one of those 4 gallon crocks you put the cucumbers in and have a recipe a friend gave me. I haven't ever used it even through we grew plenty of cucumbers to do it. You listed some of the reasons I never did it. I eat some dills on hamburger but don't really care for the sweet pickles sliced but use a bunch of sweet pickle relish on hot dogs, potato salad and deviled eggs. Grocery store has plenty and I like a variety and not a crock full of the same recipe.
yeah here's the thing jethro, actual pickles are fermented, with brine in a process that can take 3 months to a year, quick pickles which are brined while fresh under refrigeration (think vlasic pickles) must remain refrigerated that's why you buy them in your grocers refrigerated section.

I'm afraid that I didn't.
Apologies on that one
Edit- yes, I now see the post you made right above this one.

I addressed that earlier in the thread.
It was my mistake.

Living in the Ozarks has its advantages. Very little blue stupidity here. I grow plenty of cucumbers and green beans. I don’t sell them, but our little town has farmers markets and are left alone by the authorities.

My airman bud was from Sunrise Beach? Went once to his home town. Ozarks are beautiful.
