Also these same people consider Spencer Pratt as some truth telling beacon of conservative values and one to rally around. That in itself tells you a lot about the situation.

It's natural to trust people who share your values, but track record is important too. You shouldn't just downgrade credibility of people like Pratt after something like this, but pay attention to who doesn't downgrade them.

100%. The GOP wont stop talking about this stupid shite. He was gone 8 days, not two weeks, and he's about to go through the craziest 3 weeks of his life traveling to 5 places a day. Its not unfathomable to rest for a week and get 100% before taking that on.
Paxton's campaign is to hide him. He's not debating, making public appearances, or even talking in his ads. His likeability is one of the lowest of any all time GOP candidate. I don't know if i trust them to get him ahead at the finish line
