I got Philly whipped at Walmart last week but now sold out. My ShopRite has been sold out for weeks. And I haven't been able to get my preferred Temptee for several weeks. For awhile I was able to pick it up at stop and shop but even there was wiped out of everything last week!

They are actually partially blaming the cream cheese shortage on cyber/ransomware attacks on Scheiber Farms and others in late November and thru December.

Because they are the two major transportation hubs and ports of entry, the very last areas to be hit with empty shelves & supply shortages will be NYC-Philly.
Once those reports happen, it's ON.

I'm running out to ShopRite in a bit for spaghetti sauce ingredients. I'll look for cream cheese now just because.

Good luck! Hope you find it!

I just don't understand how food is distributed to stores.
I'll bet Philadelphia cream cheese is plentiful at a different store in your area, and that store will not have something your normal store has plenty of.

Food items work the opposite of everything else in this country, except for imported food items and seafood. I hauled that stuff for a long time.

No, I've cast the net pretty wide with friends and acquaintances. It's a pretty generalized problem.

There are factories and food processing plants all across the country. Items are shipped from there to regional distribution centers, then from there to the stores.

Clarify please?

Most of our packaged foods are produced in the mid-west and south and are hauled by truck to local distribution centers. The east coast is at the end of the line.

Generally, yes, although I think most cream cheese (at least Philadelphia and Temp Tee brands) are produced in the NE.

Kraft is having near catastrophic levels of worker shortages and turnover right now and have slowed down or stopped production completely on everything but the main money makers.

Yeah, I was just speaking generally. There are certain specialty food items that are still produced in the northeast. Philly cream cheese and some specialty lunch type meats come to mind. Really a small percentage of our food supply.

Did you want me to explain that I drove a truck and had 2 other trucks and drivers? I got out of the business 2 years ago.
My other 2 drivers hauled food items exclusively.

I'm not buying any, I'm just curious if it's in stock.

I just ran to the store quickly after the gym. Decent amount of Philadelphia brand, but no Tempt Tee.

Our local grocery chain, Food City, had a weekend special of Phil Cream Cheese (regular size) for 95cents. They were sold out before 11a.m.Friday.
I ended up ordering Hershey's German Chocolate from Amazon.
Let's not think about pet food, when we have pets that are picky eaters of canned foods. It's almost eastern European when a store gets a shipment. All regular activities cease until the moist petfood supplies have been refilled.
