you were also probably like 11 during Iraq and got your news from the Daily Show

15 actually. And you weren’t allowed at least in 2003 to be against the war and be on television. It was pretty much just Alex Jones and Bernie Sanders and neither of them were ever let on the air.

FWIW, Saddam claimed many times that he had, and would use WMDs.

Probably just saber-rattling and and sand threats, but he definitely wanted everyone to believe he still had them. We know he had some prior, and he used them on his own people.

First I do not know what happened, just like yall.

I am going to pit myself against the popular narrative that Iraq did not have WMD. I don't think that is true.

Why? Because of two things.

A. Sadam used WMD's against the Kurdish population. That is known.
B. For those of you old enough to remember there was a long buildup of troops and everyone was itching for us the pull the trigger on Iraq.
During that long do nothing delay it was reported by Debka that the Iraq's were moving the WMD to Syria via train.

I am not defending Bush admin. as the war was BS. But I do believe they did have WMD and we allowed them to transfer them out to Syria.

The CIA/FBI all run the nation, Presidents just come and go (before Trump)

I will defend Bush 2 here but not Cheney who no doubt was in on it all.

We must remember, Bush did not really need any excuse to go to war with Iraq, because they has a cease fire agreement which they broke, by not allowing Inspections. So, Bush di not need any WMD re[ort to go in, BUT the CIA/Cheney needed it to convince Bush to go to War. The Fake Intelligence was not asked for by Bush, he already had a 100% right to go in, in any Cease Fire Agreement if you fail to abide the war is back on. Thua everyone gets this wrong, the CIA needed to TRICK Bush, the CIA are an evil lot of liars.

The Official Oops - We thought they had a stockpile and were fixing to use them, we didn't find shite, but they had the capability to restart it, and they wouldn't cooperate with us. And what can we do to keep from screwing the pooch in the future

My theory on this was that Saddam knew well in advance we were coming and he moved that stuff out of the country before we attacked and what was not moved was buried in the sand.

If you read the U.S. Army’s official history of the Iraq War, it’s revealed Army planners were told to come up with invasion plans for Iraq as early as November 2001.

It wasn’t all W, he was just easy to convince because Sadaam tried to assassinate his father.

It was all Rumsfeld, Cheney, and other hawks.

Which major news channel was against the war?

quote:

Immediately after the 9/11 attacks (2001–2002), most major U.S. news channels strongly supported the Bush administration and its case for war in Iraq. There was very little mainstream dissent, especially on television. Coverage tended to amplify claims about weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) and links between Saddam Hussein and terrorism.

quote:

In the U.S., no major TV news channel was openly against the Iraq War in the run-up (2002–2003). The rare critical voices were usually isolated commentators or programs, not whole networks.

Oh that's right, none.

That dude is all over the board. Sadam had capability to manufacture chemical weapons agents near San Francisco before we invaded.

Only the clueless believe that these are some large complexes to make. If you have no concern for waste treatment do you need larger than half a semi trailer or less as space occupied.

I've seen banned boll weevil pesticides manufacturing similar to Sarin from castor beans still standing (not being used). The US chemical weapons agents manufacturing by Shell at Rocky Mountain Arsenal had NO large process units.

I can remember sitting around a campfire at deer camp flat out saying W was making up the WMD as an excuse to go into Baghdad because Stormin Norman wouldn’t let daddy go in after Dessert Storm. I thought everyone knew that by now.

It's amazing to me how few people understand that the fundamental basis for the belief that Iraq had WMDs was a simple matter of the inventory taken after the first Gulf War and what they had NOT shown UN Arms Inspectors as having been destroyed or dismantled from that inventory. It wasn't "a spy said you had X." It was "we KNOW you had X in 1991 so what happened to it??"

I thought there was an ally or two (European) that supposedly had direct/human intelligence about WMD.

LOL the board's biggest dumbass made a dumbass comment and still managed to get many replies.

EVERY news outlet was all in on this narrative. Democrats voted for the war, then when it was politically convenient, lied and said they were against it. Of course that same media allowed the liars that voted for it to fly, like they always do.

Another huge lie in this thread is Obama being against the war in 2003. Obama wasn't a Senator until a couple years later. Yeah, he joined the lying democrats that voted for the war as saying he was "with them all along".

Talk about revisionist history from the usual "moderates".
