James Buchanan is hard to top
But Biden is way up there.

He didn't stop the secession ball rolling after Lincoln's victory, and overall his administration was extremely passive when the country was falling apart all around him
Because contrary to present day popular belief, many people in the 1800s saw secession as a State's right to leave. Even strict abolitionists like Lysander Spooner recognized the right to secession, even if the South wouldn't abolish slavery.

Hot take: FDR
He laid the foundation for the massive expansion of government that has caused so many of our problems:
-installed leftist puppet justices who wouldn’t say no to him
-unilaterally seized all private gold so he could print more money; his judges approved
-began the handouts which we all know and love (SNAP, welfare, Medicaid, etc)
-raised taxes out the wazzoo to pay for all this
The more one hears about FDR's policies not dealing with the war... he was terrible
The 2 biggest travesties being interning American citizens of Japanese descent with no due process
But then he ordered farmers to burn crops as people were starving during the Great Depression to inflate the price of crops
Go watch 1 of the several rants The Fat Electrician has on FDR in his videos... FDR's policies at home were pretty bad
ETA: I'm not sure which of TFE's rants are better
His rants against Communism (always top-tier entertainment)
His rants against Gen. MacArthur
His rants against FDR

LBJ
I personally think he was AT LEAST knowledgeable about the assassination. I think he was absolutely getting paid kick backs for the war in Vietnam.
Imagine if people knew how racist he was, they would’ve canceled him a long time ago. His GREAT SOCIETY plan was what kicked off, what I think, is the foundation of how “living off the government” began. (Projects, Food stamps, government babies)
He was a total piece of shite human. Makes what people think of Trump today look like Mother Theresa.

It depends on your context or point of view.
As SFP stated, many consider James Buchanan to be the worst due to his passivity, indecisiveness and tacit support of slavery leading to the Civil War. Along with this his administration dithered during the Panic of 1857, causing a severe recession.
If we remove the bias of history, another strong contender is Abraham Lincoln. I'll wait for the pearl-clutching and gasp of shock/outrage to wane...

Yes, Lincoln "ended slavery and saved the Union" but he did so by provoking a fight which didn't need to happen. By today's standard, it would be as if ~7M US citizens were killed. Lincoln won with just under 40% of the vote, and none from the Southern delegates, this triggered the secessions before he even took office. Slavery was already declining economically in the South and faced global pressures to end it (other nations like Britain, France and Brazil ended it without civil war). Lincoln's own pre-war views weren't what history has tried to portray them as (at least in schools). He opposed slavery's expansion but repeatedly said he wouldn't interfere with it where it existed, he supported colonization of freed Blacks to Africa/Latin America, and endorsed the Corwin Amendment (which would have protected slavery forever if ratified). Along with this, the Emancipation Proclamation originally applied only to the states which had engaged in armed rebellion, not Union states.
The Fort Sumter resupply, his calling up of 75,000 troops, suspension of habeas corpus, arbitrary arrests (including of journalists and legislators), and rejection of compromise proposals like the Crittenden Compromise (the big difference between it and the Corwin Amendment is that the former would have legalized the expansion of slavery into areas below 36-30' latitude, which would have roughly been anything below the NC/TN northern state line) escalated a political crisis into total war.
Another contender, if we restrict the context to my current lifetime would be Barack Obama. His horrible mishandling of the GFC (which is the root for much of the economic problems we see today), his foreign policy of negotiation through capitulation, his using the IRS to go after conservative groups his using the DOJ to spy on the opposition party's candidate (Trump, leading up to the 2016 election), his attempt to poison the well for his presidential successor, his spying on news agencies who reported unfavorably on him, etc. all not only put the nation on a worse footing but it also set the stage for allowing the election of Joe Biden, whose mental faculties declined while in office to the point where his administration was being run by others.

Aside from the disastrous Bush 2.0, the presidents being mentioned here are all lefties.

Why are you laughing? Obama presided over the largest spending, at the time, than any other POTUS in history. He completely destroyed the American Healthcare system with Obamacare. A system that everyone, except you libs, told you would fail, and it did, rather spectacularly. His administration took over the Student loan program and as a result, college costs are at the highest point in American history. He directly funded Iran's nuclear weapons program which led to Trump having to go in and destroy that program. His appointed judges are mostly responsible for the catch and release program of hundreds of violent felons. You people were saying he was going to "cross racial lines". Without question, race relations took a giant leap back during his tenure. He weaponized the FBI, CIA, and Department of Justice to spy on political opponents. Common core has been recognized as a big mistake and American test scores have dropped since implementation. His green energy initiative was an abject failure with majority of solar panel and green energy companies receiving billions of taxpayer dollars to shut it's doors an average of 2 years after receiving those funds. And, his tenure led to the Biden disaster.
If Obama never existed, this country would not have nearly as many issues as it does today. I'm sorry your literal liberal feelings can't bear to criticize him because he's black. If you remove skin color, he was one of the most, if not the most, destructive President's in American history. The caveat for that, is for private citizens. For you socialist, destroy America to remake it into a marxist utopia, i'm sure you liked him.

Hoover is near the worst. Great Depression happened during his term. Though he didn’t have much of a hand in causing it (though experts believe he could have attempted to curb it in advance), he made it far worse by continually failing to act and sticking too hard to his principles. He also was apparently notably absent and tried to avoid public speaking and appearances. While a lot of us on this board might agree with many of his ideas today, he’s Exhibit A that there needs to be a balance in times of great strife, as all of his ideals were great for normal times but exacerbated the Great Depression

What's the common denominator here? It's plain to see that in most opinions the democrat presidents overwhelmingly have been the worst presidents in our history.

Bush - Obama - Biden was a terrible streak briefly interrupted by a great presidency.
By the time Trump turns it around again this country better not vote another Dem or neocon to screw it all up again, but I'll never underestimate the American voter.
