So what do ya’ll think about the Panama Canal?

What is the threat to U.S. commerce if Red China controls the Panama Canal? Is this the question you are asking?

Looks like we might have to invade Panama and Greenland. I want the world afraid of Trump.

I doubt that. I imagine this is Trump’s ham-fisted way of sending a signal that a new sheriff is in town.
China’s attempts to forge closer relations with Panama is not happening in a vacuum. After a decade of negotiations — Nicaragua recently shut the door on a Chinese concession to build a competing canal through Lake Nicaragua:
LINK ]Nicaragua cancels controversial Chinese canal concession after nearly a decade...
Central American nation walks back cross-country canal concession to Hong Kong-based company: Proposed US $50 billion Nicaragua canal was pitched as a competitor to the nearby Panama Canal...
As he is wont to do, Trump is simply blustering to negotiate a better deal on transit fees and voice his concerns over Chinese “Belt and Road” infrastructure projects in the country. I also assume the President of Panama knows this and will be willing to reach some sort agreement on these issues.

My only guess is it has something to do with El Salvador.

El Salvador could be 'sitting on a gold mine' with $3 trillion in unmined gold

It’s a threat to Co-President Musk’s profit margin

This is just a negotiating tactic. We’ll get what we actually want out of Panama and the Danes. Hell, Denmark is an ally. We aren’t fighting them or taking Greenland. We just want access to it for what’s under the ice and countering Russia in the Arctic (since Canada has become a cucked nation incapable of doing so themselves)

Take it back and close the Darian Gap with Panamanian troops
Posted on 12/23/24 at 6:05 pm to SquatchDawg
Yeah, the Chinese can not take that over. We will have to take it back.

Leave it, it's a money pit and newer ships are too big to use it.
When it was built it served a strategic purpose, with the amount of naval bases we have in every ocean today it's not.
Trump needs to ignore the idiot who put this idea in his ear.
LOL. C'mon Bro It still serves a huge purpose for the US economy. Only the largest new container ships won't fit. Most ports can't take those anyway. 99% of the worlds ships will fit though especially with the new locks finished in 2016. There are still hundreds of new ships (container and otherwise) current being built that fit.

We need to absolutely own the control of Panama, period.

I posted this on another thread, but it needs to be reposted here:

Now he is talking about wanting to go to war and reclaim the Panama Canal. Again, the only people that will win over this is big business, that he claims is being overcharged for its use. The Panama Canal gives people a shortcut to both Pacific and Atlantic Oceans. Why would America need to use the Panama Canal? America already has access to both oceans. It kinda looks like he is doing the bidding of a foreign government.
Nothing that is ever done is done in the interest of the American people. Even the situation with the Panama Canal. Obviously, the non American multinational corporations are the only ones that need to use this canal, because America already has access to both oceans. Russia probably needs it more than anyone, because it gives them a shortcut to the Atlantic, which is what "NeoEurasionism" is about. This is the ideology that drives Putin.

No, its a joke.
We can load up our shite, put it on railcar, and get it to either coast where we have ports, if nessasary. Or, put it on a cargo plane and get it to an airport on either coast. America has gotten spoiled. Most countries don't have that much. Many are landlocked. Or, like Russia, they only have access to the Pacific. Everything else is frozen.
This is nothing more than the multinational corporations pulling the Trump strings for their own gain.
