Because I want them to be accountable in the long run. I want the ultimatum. That way if there's any adverse effects down the line, I can prove I was basically forced to get it or lose my entire way of supporting my family. This job isn't some hourly wage. We're talking health insurance and our entire standard of living. You ok with me losing all that?

Op why don’t you just lie about it? What are they going to do fire you? They were going to fire you anyway. I doubt seriously they are going to ask for proof only to ask if you have had the jab or not. If they do ask for proof, it’s not hard to get that document. The choice should be up to you and no one else.

Yea I don't get why people are screaming socialism over private companies asserting their private property rights.
Don't want the shot...cool, tell them to frick off and find a new one. Cool thing about our system is if their is an opening to make money, your competitors will find a way to use that. In this case I'm sure a competitor would love to have a seasoned employee like the op and would be more relaxed on terms if they value him that much.

My director was gleeful about the policy. She said she enjoyed the angry reaction it got from the conservative employees.
