That must be an awfully fancy wheelchair.
I’m still in disbelief that a wheelchair can cost $100k but my wife says she saw the invoice. I’ve got to see it for myself before I believe it completely.

She she certain that she did not read $10,000? That is on the higher end for an electric wheel chair. $100,000 is basically unheard of.

That has to be a billing error or fraud. I would give my congressman's office a call

I mean with Medicare there should be free wheelchair options for your mother in law as far as I know.

Is she in an assisted living facility?

Cost vs. price.

Nothing is free.

We are paying for it.

It’s absurd/insane.

Like I said, I’m gonna have to verify this myself before I 100% believe it.

I posted this mainly to see if anyone else has seen this sort of thing or anyone in the medical community could verify it.

I'm certain this is like the old 'suggested retail price'.

A friend had a heart procedure done last year ... $700k sticker shock. Insurance settled for 38K.

I will tell you that if the med supply company knows they can get $100K reimbursement from Medicare for that wheelchair, they’re gonna bill Medicare $100K.

WTF? My wife was telling me earlier that her wheelchair costs $100,000, and I was in disbelief. She said she thought her father was wrong until she saw the invoice.

How the frick are we paying $100k for a fricking electric wheelchair? This is outrageous. I’ll see if I can verify it further and get more details like the brand and manufacturer.

Sick. Really sick. The SCAM is infesting this country, state, and this city. You should see the shitholes Collis Temple scams in this town. Really sad.

I assume Medicare gets billed $100k for a $8k chair.

We'd have a balanced budget if it weren't for the fraud.

Lol, but Obama. Everything is more expensive now since 2017, and this is Trumps 2nd term not attempting to fix HC(or anyting) and you still blame Obama?

How is Trump fixing it? Pathetic

That might be the "charge." Medicare probably has a 95% contractual writeoff and actually paid $5000.

I don't think it really costs $100K. It is just a bill.

Well, that's basically what happens. Luxury model wheelchairs can go a little over 10k. Nowhere near 100k. So they sell a nice luxury model wheelchair that costs in the 8k range and charge medicare 90-100k for it. t's a scam.

Medicare and Medicaid typically pay out less than other sources with Medicaid being the lowest. This is probably a typo or something.

Stephen Hawking's chair sold at auction for almost $400k.

For others, internet told me this:
Standard Power Wheelchair $3,000 - $13,000 Joystick control, various motor configurations
