Id never suggest im better than anyone else becuase of my party affiliation, or lack thereof.. unfortunately , there are way too many trashy folks in society, and on this board- who think that anyone who isnt in their chosen cult of Left or Right is automatically “talking down to them”.. or making them feel “less than”… it’s pure insecurity they are feeling.. and ironically, many of those sensitive types claim to be in the “frick your feelings” crowd…. it’s why the country is in the sorry state it’s currently in, in my most humble Independent opinion .

I've never understood the lure of Independent Party affiliation = unless you are just waiting for it to all fall apart and hope to be able to snicker at the 'losers' as someone who 'didn't participate' in the debacle.
I consider myself an independent thinker - but my analysis has led me to think my best way to employ my meager vote is to survey the political scene and identify which side is most evil = and to do all I can to neuter THAT party's influence.
Voting 'independent' is like sitting on the sidelines of a game you are not interested in and boasting about it.
The Republican Party is awful - but they offer the ONLY competitive place where abject evil is not the reigning philosophy. Voting 3rd party is the same as staying home - except for 'bragging rights' - which have the same value as those who just stayed home and left decisions to others.
My stance is to work like hell during the primary season to work hard for the person who you think would be BEST to lead the country.
But when it comes down to the final choice - determine who are the two 'front runners' & vote for the one less likely to do evil.

It’s ok .. not everyone can understand .. being a TRUE Independent thinker and voter is not for the faint of heart, and it certainly is not for everyone .
Most people seem to have a need to feel like a part of a “tribe” of some sort.. and way too many people , and seemingly yourself- like to advocate for the old “voting for the lesser of two evils” ritual… THAT , in my opinion, has gotten us to precisely where we are as a nation.. to a place where i dont recognize the country i grew up in.. and where Ronald Reagan himself would be laughed at today and called “too moderate” or a “RINO”.. it’s the sad reality .
Don’t get it twisted, im not saying or implying for one second that im better or worse than you are .. im not talking down to anyone .. it’s just- when it comes to politics and voting- we are not the same .

Kelly was on 3-4 shuttle flights, Commanded a couple, briefly at Space Station. Was part of some ongoing experiment with his brother measuring bone density among other things

Imagine still living in Louisiana in 2025 .. i think there was a poll here awhile back; obviously most posters here have La ties, but i think the majority of posters on TD now live in other states/countries .
I dont think im better than anyone b/c im a Registered Independent .. but tbh i do kinda look down on people who never left La , or who wound up back there .
