Ugh, this is why no one takes those kids seriously:

However, a ninth-grade English teacher Felicia Burgin has said she believes the criticism is unfair. “There is no one that is going to tell you a negative thing about Deputy Peterson," she said, explaining the officer wouldn’t have stood a chance against Cruz, who was armed with an AR-15 rifle.

“I don’t know what he could have done other than literally died,” Burgin added.

According to the New York Post Peterson reportedly believed he did his duty. “He believed he did a good job calling in the location, setting up the perimeter and calling in the description,” local police union official, Jim Bell said.

Uh I dunno, maybe confronted the shooter instead of cowering?

A good job eh? How did that perimeter work out when Cruz just mosey'ed on out to Subway and Walmart?

Of course you do because you think metal gear solid is reality

Do you think Dennis Prager is an idiot? He said letting teachers arm themselves is the most rational first step we can do right now.

Arguing with you people is a lesson in futility because you live in a fantasy world. Im sure in your world where trannies are perfectly sane, men and women have no innate differences, everyone is perfectly equal, every rich person is evil, lowering taxes will hurt the economy, diversity is our greatest strength, letting teachers arm themselves is completely irrational...

In a school shooting situation yes. I realize its asking a lot for you people to be rational but your ideal situation of the shooter just randomly feeling guilty and dropping his weapons before he shoots more people is ridiculously unrealistic

Sure in metal gear solid or an Arnold Schwarzenegger movie

And that highlights one of the problems with the idea of arming teachers.
no, it highlights the problems with the idea that only cops should be armed because they are going to protect us. You are telling me you think a teacher inside the building is just going to sit there and let themselves be shot if they have a gun on their hip and are trained to use it?

Not a single one of my teacher friends want to bring a gun into their classroom, even the ultra conservative ones.

What kind of teachers are these people? Just curious.

Btw, if my school allowed me to carry, I would.

That's the disconnect, a guy with a gun, earning a paycheck for being there with a gun didn't stop them.

Any teachers/administrators that volunteered to undergo arms training and have a weapon available to them would be doing it for another reason, other than a paycheck, for the actual ability to either survive themselves, or protect others.

Those motives are vastly different, and ultimately that's what's going to drive that individuals actions

You can go ahead and admit you have no clue what you're talking about. It's ok. We won't judge.

...well, not too much anyway.

Doesn't this kinda destroy the argument that we need armed guards at schools now?
I mean a sheriff's deputy was there and didn't stop anything.

No, not at all. One sheriff's deputy waiting for retirement and acting like a coward is not justification for removing armed guards from schools.

Liberals say they want to end school shootings and then make lame excuses for any solution that doesn't support their true agenda of banning guns.

Most are elementary or middle school. One high school English teacher. One has a gun everywhere she goes except her school. She has no interest in taking it into her classroom.

If a “good guy” has a gun and fails to act then he is not a “good guy with a gun.” He is a coward with a gun.

Does she think the idea of announcing to the world that she doesn't is a good idea? Why, if so?

Like what's better than a school shooter, a school shootout

It is FAR FAR better to have a school shootout, where bullets are flying at the attacker, than a school shooting, where bullets are only flying at innocents.

That you think otherwise proves you know nothing about violence and shouldn’t contribute to the discussion.

I often think the idea that we can create a human utopia is one of the more dangerous ideas to have ever affected humanity.
