Yeah, no one goes out in NYC. Why are so me of you so angry that some people may want to live in NYC for a while, particularly while they’re young?

I lived there for a good while and this is basically true, everyone goes out 5 nights a week. Apartments are basically enclosures for a bed.

My rent was never that bad but I definitely spent more money on food and drink than rent most months.

Look at the per capita GDP of these places and tell me how easy it is to be even moderately productive for people

Easy…. How “easy” is it. That’s the worry.

How “easy” is it for someone who glides and just wants to trip over a paying job? Not freaking very.

How “hard” is it to sack up, put in some effort, and reap reward? Not “easy”. Is it done every day? Yep. Sure is.

People need to stop blabbing about “easy” and get some passion.

A mile here or there is a big distinction in NYC metro.

Hoboken will never be confused with the west village.

Because these young people are paying 5k a month in rent, while demanding us old people take on the burden of their student loans.

The only people I know of in the city that are paying that much themselves make more than enough to be able to afford it. Most young people living in the city have roommates. I also doubt that they’re all demanding that you old people pay their loans.

You old people are however demanding that they pay your social security.

You are the kind of person that when someone says it’s 5:00, but it’s only 4:55… you correct them. Right?

The point of that poster is all of those addresses are in the same general geographical fricking area.

He is the guy drunk at 3 in the morning three blocks north of bourbon, wallet bursting with tourist dollars, telling the bandit "you do realize it is against the law to have that weapon without a permit".

Some of you are doing exactly what the slanted article wanted, comparing your rent/home to someone living in a very expensive part of New York and making a lot of money, its all relative.

Im certain some people living in the 9th ward would feel the same way about your mortgages in Mandeville.

I guess I could have geocoded by street address and requested income figures from the city, but I thought Manhattan would suffice, some of you need to take off the training wheels, the mask, and get out of the basement.

“We are in the city so we’re cool” people are equivalent dumbfricks to the “living in the city is dumber than a post” people.

This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

Statements like these from urban-dwelling Americans make it hard to have any sympathy whatsoever for anyone who chooses to live in a large city.

So you think they can pay $5k in rent but have issues paying $1k/month in student loans?

11,916 dollars per month.

Was listed as average household income (assuming this is pretax)

If they are only earning 12k a month pretax and paying 5k a month in rent, then probably aren’t doing real well and don’t have a lot left for student loans.

That's a massive leap in logic assuming the average new Yorker lives alone and is fresh out of school.

Also, making $144k/yr is not doing well?
