Well to be fair, Olympic committee saying they aren't going to judge her on abilities that she can do and no one else can. Is kind of fricked up. I'm sure that played a huge role in her breakdown.
Exactly how? is there a link to this statement?

Disagree. Idolizing sports figures as anything more than just that is what is wrong with America.
A Doctor quitting in the middle of surgery bc he doesn’t enjoy doing it anymore would be reprehensible. This just made the Olympic broadcast less desirable.
Also they changed the rules bc she was too good. That is messed up on its own.

Your reach has exceeded your grasp.
When setting goals, this is a good thing.
When dealing with reality, but only failing in a poor attempt to rationalize, it is a very foolish thing. Expect nothing more from EhanL(ooser).

Didn’t a Japanese make gymnast finish with a busted up knee?
Yep = and finished his last routine by sticking a double flip dismount from the high rings = like an arrow shot into the ground.
Then collapsed and had to be assisted from the floor. (as I remember it)
Courage/dedication beyond belief.

Haven't followed the Olympics or this story. What this about?

Biles suggested that the FIG has serially undervalued her skills because "they don't want the field to be too far apart," she told The Times. If the FIG keeps her provisional scores low, Biles' thinking goes, than other gymnasts may have a fighting chance.

Sure. For physical health reasons. When they withdraw due to other reasons, it’s a big story.

People withdraw all the time. She was just high-profile and a sure-thing...so she made headlines.
Almost as if she knew this would draw more attention than actually competing.

Omg.
So first it was because she's black, now it's because she was raped?

She's a coward.
Let's leave it at that.

She is an entitled little bitch who just took her ball and went home. She was everything right with American sports in 2016, but perfectly encapsulates everything wrong with sports in 2021. She deserves all the criticism coming her way.

I don't really know what yall are getting at.
Athletes get shat on on the time for perceived quitting or laziness. Because other athletes or stars have played through pain and mental anguish.

Ironically this is what the woke left is calling for.

When? Been watching the Olympics for 49 years. Don’t recall seeing this before. Not at this level. Can you cite examples?

Biles is no normal athlete. They literally have had promos of her hanging out with a fricking goat. This isn't some third rate swimmer tapping out, this is the premier Olympic athlete for America quitting. This is Michael Jordan walking out on the Dream Team at halftime in the Gold Metal Game. This is Phelps pulling himself out of the pool halfway through a swim because he is behind. This is Kevin Durant flying back home after losing to France.

This is Biles' speculation on the matter. Was there a statement issued by the committee or FIG?

I actually think this topic deserves at least a little nuance.
She was sucking it up and thought she'd become a liability. So she quit. She's going to get praised on that basis by our media establishment who would never criticize a black female athlete. I certainly don't think she deserves praise for it, but I can see a perspective in which she thought (immaturely, IMO) she was doing the right thing in the moment.
On the other hand, she's the GOAT or close to it. She has girls all over the world looking up to her, and the girls on her team depending on her. She's embraced that role to date. Quitting was the easy way out, no question. A competitor of her stature should have risen to the moment or gone down with the ship. If she lets the team down based on bad performance, fine. Hold you head up, tell the girls who admire you that you're going to have bad days but you finish, even when your bad day happens at the worst possible moment. Go out there and do your best for your team, no matter what that ends up looking like.
