Thank you for sweeping Broome out, EBR!

Has anyone heard from Gravy Chambers and how he’s taking the news?
He taking it with a side of fries and a frosty.

God I hope it happens. It’s fricking ridiculous the mayor of one parish gets that much sway with surrounding parishes money. I don’t care who’s in office. Let each area operate with their money as they see fit themselves.
I hope you were just excited and wrote Parishes instead of the correct Cities.
I expect a deconsolidation effort to begin in the next 4-8 years once St George hits its stride.
5 cities, 5 mayors, but one mayor controls the parish. It’s like lord of the rings.

35.7% voter turnout which is in line with previous 2 election run-offs.
We were running to the grocery store this morning and I mentioned to my wife that we should go vote and that it would take 5 minutes. It took like 2 minutes and I'm glad we went.

Sid: "Baton Rouge, put your big boy pants on because we're about to win."

I hope he knows what he’s getting into

Super pumped about this. Glad people got out to vote. I think this result is the same message we just got on the national level. People are tired of the bullshite and would rather an everyday person take a stab at running stuff. It’s also nice that Catholic BR got a win in something this year.

Sid is the real deal. I’m sure many in this thread know him personally or someone that knows him. He’s genuinely a good man and leader, he cares about people and never stands on negativity to get ahead.
I hope that translates to being a great mayor.
A few things the news didn’t report.
He lead the primary vote with only about 80k in campaign funds from the state Republican Party (all local money went to Ted James).
His opponents spent around 500k combined.
When he takes office he will have very few hands sticking out saying you owe me.

Good luck to him. Whatever happens, it will be an improvement

This marked a big turning point in his campaign

Really happy for y’all. BR being such a mismanaged shithole was a big factor in me moving out of state. I’m not sure about this HS coach experiment
but it really can’t be worse than Broome. Solid win baws

Congrats to my BR brethren. As a Texan, I pay more attention to this election and NOLA elections than most because of this board.

I think being a career local football coach gives Sid some credibility in the black community. I think they know he isn’t a typical piece of shite politician who doesn’t care about them. He doesn’t have experience in politics, but they know he is sincere in wanting to help the community.

This is exactly how he won. He’s a true grass roots candidate.

I really want to see the demographic breakdown of this election. Wondering if the GOP has made substantial inroads with the African American community thanks to Trump.
