It’s not a simple yes or no question.

It’s a cost - benefit analysis.

Would you say that the US is responsible for preventing it no matter the cost?

What is that level?

The cost/benefit analysis is really easy.

When the Islamic Regime openly supports various terrorist organizations and has frequently stated their desire to destroy Israel and the Great Satan.....well, I take them at their word.

Yeah, and look at all the harm that's come to world ever since North Korea got a nuclear weapon!

Why, they've already used it to attack... wait a minute.

With regards to the current military operation in the ME, I'm somewhat ambivalent about the operation. It's not that I didn't think this clash wasn't coming between the Islamic Regime and the West. I initially questioned the timing but we're in it now and the US has to prevail ....unequivocally.

Do you know why? Because you realize deep inside it goes against everything the Trump administration campaigned upon

You have something called cognitive dissonance. Its confusing you.

In a round about way Slick Willie contributed to the success of North Korea's pursuit of nuclear weapons and China's acquisition of advanced MIRV technologies.

Because you run on emotion, not rationality.

How many countries have NK and Pakistan nuked?

Those who believe Iran should have a nuclear weapon generally say if the US, Israel, North Korea, China, Russia, India, etc can have a nuclear weapon then the Islamic Regime should have the right to develop a nuclear weapon too.

The latter reasoning is the reasoning of naive and irrational fools, it's also the reasoning of many on the left

Aren't these the same hypocrisy that want red flag laws?

It's the same thing. They're always wrong.

I stated the clash was eventually coming between the Islamic Regime and the West. I said I question the timing.

At this point I'm going to give Trump 2.0 the benefit of the doubt. I'm assuming they had intel that lit the green light to bust a move on the Islamic regime.

I also said in the OP I remember the Weapons Of Mass Destruction sales pitch that got the US bogged down in a military operation in Iraq for the better part of 10 years.

If Operation Epic Fury morphs into another Iraq style operation then I will abandon Trump just as I abandoned Dubya.

This ^^^^ isn't cognitive dissonance.

Absolutely.

If you want nuclear winter and ionization problems that would affect the United States as well as about 90% of the rest of the globe.

Stupid assed liar.

quote:

During his successful 2024 campaign and into his second presidency, Donald Trump maintained a consistent stance: "Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon". He has repeated this pledge at least 40 times during his campaign and dozens more since taking office in January 2025

Why are we dictating national defense issues to a sovereign foreign country? The national defense of this country isn’t beholden to any foreign power, why should theirs be?

It's an international red flag law.
And Iran deserves to be black listed.

The old military adage was no one would use a nuclear weapon because of mutually assured destruction. That assumes you have rational actors. In Iran's case, they do not. They believe there are 72 virgins waiting for them. What other religion has people who strap a bomb to their body and blow themselves up in a crowd of people? North Korea is officially atheist. The regime is rational in the sense that they know they would no longer exist if they ever tried to launch nukes towards the U.S.

Would you support instituting a military draft for 18-25 year old males for a ground invasion?

What should that have to do with anything in this situation? That doesn’t seem like a reasonable or rational question to ask in this scenario. But I’m all ears as to how and why I’m wrong. And take note that I’m not downplaying the significance of the subject you’re referencing, I’m just trying to figure out the precise context of it in this specific situation.
