Because they were the outcasts from a VERY early age. They were not invited to sit at the cool kid table. They were picked last in kickball at recess. They are the girl that never got paid attention to by the boys. That early mindset resulted in them not trying to better themselves but in them just saying I will disassociate from everyone else.

Then one day they find another that went through the same thing. Then another. The result is a collection of folks that celebrate their oddities and assemble together. This whole group is the culmination of him/her (that then become they/thems/zirs—or whatever mental illness identification class they select) making their own club and they think it is a safe place.

I do not know, but most of the DSA is made up of the children of privilege. I do many times wonder if it is just a race to see how unattractive they can become.

Sorry to be disagreeable, but from a strictly appearance standpoint, those various groups don’t look all that bad insofar as leftists go. They could have passed themselves off as Ron Paul supporters back in the day.

More drastic than how they look is the jobs you're alluding to. Not one person in those pictures is successful. No doctors, lawyers, consultants, developers, or anything close to it. Even in less prestigious roles, you cannot look at their resumes and point to "accomplishment". They don't know how to do anything well, as if they did they would have different ideological leaning. This is why I want every big city to elect these nutjobs as mayors, because once they get there they have no prayer of achieving their goals. This leaves both their detractors and natural supporters hating their guts and ensuring another doesn't follow. Mamdani has more runway and cover but the moron in Seattle is Exhibit A.
