He has probably been the single most successful politician in terms of actually implementing and executing conservative policies and principles with actual real world results in the last decade.

This doesn't matter in national politics. You need to be able to talk a big game. The onlyTrumpers will not support him because Trump told them not to. DeSantis would be a great president but Trump is gonna pick the nominee in 28.

bullshite. I won’t support him because he turned his back on Trump when every level of government was going after him

Who knows. I could actually see him running for senator first with his popularity or going another route. His kids are still young and his wife did just beat cancer.

that 'looking around at all the other candidates first' then raising his hand that he would support trump if he won the nomination will live forever on the internet.

Vance is loved now but he may be looked at like pence in 4 years. Pump the brakes.

What we do know about Ron is that he knows how to govern.

You talking about Desantis?

Who knows?

He's a helluva Governor though ... too short to be POTUS.

Avg height of POTUS is 6' tall.

Short people have no reason.

He made a very grave mistake in going against Trump who was blatantly cheated in the 2020 election. People are not just going to forget that.

He’s been one of the best governors ever and gets shite done.

Gov D has certainly earned himself another run or two for the White House in the future but if Vance continues to take advantage of the opportunity given and impresses, then JD is going to be hard to beat.

The future of the GOP would seem to be in very good shape as we move onward in the next few years.

Vance has put on a clinic from the very moment Trump tapped him

I like Ron and think he is probably the best Governor we have but I honestly think it was a huge mistake to jump in the ring when he did

Assuming Vance would run he would most likely have an older VP so ya never know. But probably not for the time being.

Ron should have waited but he is still young. I think if he sits back and continues to build on his successes and reputation then he could always jump back in down the road.

As a huge Ron fan I assume so, but in what role I don't know.

On one hand, Vance is the superior ambassador of the new conservative movement that they'll both be a part of. Vance probably has the more intellectual heft of the two as well, and that's saying something because I think Ron is a very strong rep for the movement, more intelligent than the large majority of R leaders has very strong chops in dismantling opposition (media in particular).

But DeSantis is probably unrivaled in modern R/conservative politics in terms of elite management and performance in office. What he's led in Florida is absolutely stunning, quite seriously one of the greatest political leadership tenures in American history.

I don't know how it sorts out, but it's a potentially good problem to have. I hope we just don't squander the talent between them.

DeSantis should have pulled back from challenging Trump. Everyone knew 2020 was utter fraud, and it made everyone want to vote Trump in that much more. Taking a shot at Trump then put DeSantis in the role of the Republican establishment, whether he was or wasn’t in reality.

DeSantis has openly opposed the Republican establishment time after time, and there is no disputing the fact that he is the most successful conservative politician in this country.

Vance was essentially picked by Trump to be his successor. And he’s a damn effective campaigner and debater. The 2028 nomination will be his to lose out of the gate.

He had one bullet in his gun, he was warned, and he still wasted it. He will not be a major player going forward.
