Sen. Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) informed Attorney General Merrick Garland on Monday that the Senate Judiciary Committee is investigating allegations from former U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman that former President Donald Trump and his Justice Department appointees tried to interfere with with prosecutorial decisions to punish Trump's critics and spare his allies, The New York Times reports. Berman outlines his charges in a forthcoming book, Holding the Line.
Berman, a Trump appointee, publicly declined to step down as U.S. attorney for the Southern District of New York in 2020 under hard pressure from then-Attorney General William Barr — including an announcement from Barr that Berman had resigned. Barr then told Trump to fire Berman.
Berman writes that Barr suggested in 2019 that SDNY drop its prosecution of former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen and a related investigation into possible campaign finance violations, according to the Times, which obtained an advance copy of the book.
Berman also says Justice Department officials pressured his office to prosecute former Secretary of State John Kerry, and told Berman's deputy to charge prominent Democratic lawyer Gregory Craig before the 2018 midterm elections, "to even things out,"

Well they blamed Trump for colluding with Russia, when in fact it was the FBI colluding with Russia.
So this is par for the course.

I think the president has the right to fire any u.s.atty for no cause. I think clinton fired everyone when he was elected.

I am not doubting there is politics and games. But when they started going after everybody in Trump's orbit he was astonished.
The politics & games are one-sided. The GOP has no teeth for it because they are one with the democrats. So Trump is surrounded. Any R POTUS will be the same.
The GOP don't rep anybody but maybe HHTM. They don't work for us, they haven't for a very long time.

While the Biden DOJ is currently being used as a partisan cudgel. Democrats falsely accuse the opposition of what the Democrats are actually doing. It's a truism now.

To me, if I were a leftist, I would start to figure out the Democrats and media are blowing smoke up my arse in regards to Trump being charged, prosecuted, or let alone going to jail.
If Trump is going to be charged, why would Durbin all of the sudden be announcing another investigation?
The Democratic plan is to try to constantly harass Trump with threats of investigations, etc to try and damage him.
I've got news for Lefties. It's not going to work. If you guys can pull out a fully televised, across all major networks, fake investigation on January 6th and make zero traction in Trump's polling, you are screwed.

All they have is Projection, but if you look closely, they are setting up the next Republican administration for retaliatory investigations. It’s what they always do, and Republicans always say, let bygones be bygones when they take power back…. Hope this ends all the good will Conservatives have; this is a fight for our future, and our kids…..
