It's probably not steaks. I asked the wife about E.R. choke patients and she said it's usually fish or chicken bones. They ordered filet or boneless but the preparer missed one bone that got lodged in the throat.

Chocking on a bone doesn't stop all breathing. Those bones are very thin. If you swallow a bone the size of your throat you really should just die.
