They want to shut down the government without the requisite criticism so they want to pay military. That is why it is a bullshite move.

Drama queen. DACA didn't expire for two more months. Shutting down the government for people that shouldn't have been here in the first place was a mistake and you guys are going to pay for it.

is it unreasonable to expect elected politicians to follow the laws that they passed and that are already on the books for illegally entering the country?

is it unreasonable to expect these people that entered illegally, no matter how they got here, to respect the laws of the country and not expect to be able to cut in line ahead of people who are actually obeying the laws and working on becoming a US citizen the correct way simply because they have been living here illegally for (insert number) years?

They hoped they would be able to skip the citizenship process and just jump to the head of the line. That level of self-entitlement to what someone else has is not something that should be rewarded.

...because they are the ones who are causing the shutdown. This should be obvious.

pretty sure both sides have passed, and stopped, these bills

this is just political theater and, again, is solely due to the Democrats shutting down the government

own it

seems like the consensus on this board is laying blame on the dems instead of putting on military first

Wait, wut? Dems killed the entire government, cutting off pay for the military, all to virtue signal for illegals. And if that weren't enough, they fricking blamed the generals for dems not supporting a clean CR.

Do animals shite from their mouths on your planet?

95% of the Democrats voted for a government shutdown vs. 5% of the Republicans.

Now you tell me who's responsible for the shutdown.

This should be a bi-partisan bill. It is relevant to note that Senator mccatskill voted infavor of funding the government on Friday night. McConnell still struck the bill down because he is hell bent on partisanship over actual issues . He wants the country to blame dems for the shutdown or else the blame will rest on him and the president .

again

both sides have tried to do this. the political opponents stopped it every time. the DEMs aren't the only ones trying to pay the troops

why should the DEMs not be blamed for the shut down? it's literally their fault, 100%

Just a FYI, USAA and NFCU are still paying service members even though DoD aren’t transferring payments to the bank.

In 2016, it was the Russians' fault for Hillary's arse whipping. Now, it's the Republicans' fault for shutting down a bill to fund the military during this shutdown.

Hey, how about the Democrats own up to their actions on this shutdown instead of trying to weasel their way out of the blame? They knew this would cut pretty much everything government related which included the military before the shutdown occurred. You made your bed, now sleep in it.

That is based upon previous LES statements.

For someone like me who just moved to Korea less than a month ago, that's about a $700 pay cut.

322 Hart Senate Office Building should handle the difference.

Can't make this stuff up. Senator McCatskill proposes bill to keep Military pay and benifits rolling during a shutdown. Senator McConnell IMMEDIEATELY strikes the bill down and objects that the bill be hear and voted on.

So tell me again how its the Democrats fault that Military pay and benefits are withheld during this shutdown.

This is disingenuous.

First of all, the next paycheck for our military isn't even due to be paid out until 2/1/18, so 11 days.

This means there's at least a 10 day buffer to try and get something passed before it's needed to carve out a military specific appropriations bill (HR 1301 CR).

Second, McConnell clearly stated he is only objecting right now because he wants to get the full budget CR passed tonight or tomorrow, which would include the military appropriations, so there's no reason to carve it out just yet.

Stop being so dishonest.
