Comments at WSJ are tearing him up.

They should be. Why do the GOP establishment assholes always say that Republicans need to move to the center instead of pointing out how far left of center the democrats have gone? Spineless cowards.

Danforth is the very definition of Rino. He helped usher in same sex marriage and has been fighting against Trump's tariffs. He and his ilk are the very reason why MAGA is strong today. People are so sick and tired of politics as usual in DC and the party of one. I am so glad that the Republican party is trying to weed feckless leaders such as Danforths type and replace with better representatives.

RINOS should just stick too playing golf

Who? Former Senator Danforth? Episcopalian minister?
I have a loose(very and I have never met him) connection to him. He's from St Louis. My best friends daughter and sil house sat for him for 1 year when they were finishing up their degrees a few years ago.
He's old school rich. His grandfather started Ralston Purina. He has three mansions(St L, Palm springs and one other). Even as old as he is, he still travels and rotates 3-6 months time at each.
He has divinity and a law degrees from Yale. He wanted to be a minister, but his father insisted he do law. He did both, but he has never had a congregation. In 1968, five years out of law school, he was elected Missouri AG. He was the first Republican elected statewide since Hoover. He started the red avalanche in that state.
That said, he's just an out of touch old man. The wsj wouldn't have given him a forum if he wasn't bad mouthing the current admin.

I don't know Danforth, but when someone goes on a diatribe where literally nothing matches reality, I have to assume he is retarded.

MAGA Republicanism is an incoherent form of populism—sometimes leaning right, sometimes left
These two quotes contradict each other

• Unity. We are the party of Lincoln, who sought to hold America together as one indivisible nation. We stand against us-vs.-them tactics of left and right. Identity politics that inflame passions of grievance and resentment are no longer the sole property of Democrats. Now MAGA has hoodwinked straight, white, male Christians into believing that they are victims of “the elites.”... (Or maybe its just a case of standing up for yourself and not being the Democrats bitch)
People like this guy is the reason DEI, LGBQTR__@*%^(&)#$PE#&@ is a thing. It's the reason men think they are women and play women sports.

Fiscal responsibility. We oppose large and persistent federal deficits. The national debt increased nearly 40% in the first Trump administration, and under the One Big Beautiful Bill Act, it will grow over the next decade by more than $3 trillion.
Deficit is starting to close. There was a thread about it on this forum.
You can not wake up and grb your magic wand and mumble a few words and make it all right. Takes time.

Limited government. We insist that the private sector, not an overreaching federal government, is the source of America’s strength. Governmental control, once the province of progressive Democrats, is the hallmark of MAGA Republicans. They impose high tariffs and propose government ownership stakes in corporations. And no administration should direct what universities can teach, where law firms can practice, or whom comedians can mock.
Horse shite-!
quote:
Republicans have always differed with one another on certain issues. Disagreement is healthy. But MAGA has thrown out the core principles Republicans agreed on. MAGA’s GOP and Reagan’s are incompatible.
Reagan used tariffs. But yes, they are different in that we refuse DACA... Reagan embraced it.
quote:
Our Republican Legacy supports leaders who will embrace the five bedrock principles of Republicanism. We are organizing in all 50 states. We are the conservative alternative to MAGA populism..l...
LMAO!!!!!!!!!! The GOP has always used tariffs. Anybody refusing to see that is willfully blind.
This is a RINO!

I left Danforth’s GOP because I realized that they despised me as much as the Democrats did.
Posted on 10/17/25 at 8:44 am to prplhze2000
Laughable. MAGA just netted the GOP its first popular vote POTUS win in decades and this tool wants to play nice with evil so we can lose elections in mass again. For fricks sake wake up Danforth!

Here is the bio on the RINO co-author:
Rina Shah is a Washington, DC career Swamp Rat.
Shah rose to national prominence in 2016 as the first RNC delegate to publicly oppose Donald Trump’s nomination, leading the #NeverTrump movement.
In 2020, she founded Republican Women for Biden;
in 2024, she led the Republicans for Harris coalition.
and contributes frequently to BBC, CBS, MSNBC, and CNN.
She's basically the MassieSFP of the DC Swamp.

If the GOP ditches MAGA they’ll never win another national election

The middle ground Republicans almost got us all canceled by the left and overrun by illegal immigrants.
Face it, what he is really saying is that MAGA or America First are bad for his personal business.

The only thing missing is : "I approve this message" Joe Biden and "Paid for by the Democratic National Committee"

About Jeb Bush.
He was actually a pretty good Governor. Heard of the Mississippi miracle in education? Well, that program was copied from Jeb's education program in Florida. Governor Bryant brought Jeb over to promote it.
Jeb was always seen as more conservative than his brother and father. Quite a few conservatives lamented the wrong Bush was in office and that because the country would never elect a third Bush, he would not be President.
Then when he did run, he ran into a buzzsaw named Donald Trump. It was a political killing. Jeb was a nice guy, a good Governor, but his time had passed . Someone tougher was needed to roll back the Obama years (although I think Scott Walker had that toughness too)

Jeb was a good Governor here. George was just a rubber stamp.
