Scum NY Mets announcer, Gary Cohen, trashes Cubs player for attending Kirk's memorial

GARY COHEN CALLED IT "WEIRD" AND "EGREGIOUS" that Matt Shaw would miss a game to attend the memorial/funeral of a personal friend. Despite the fact that one, Shaw was given permission from the team to do so and two, the Cubs already clinched a playoff spot.
regardless however, Cohen still felt the need to go off in absolute disgust live on television for over 2 minutes trashing Shaw's decision to attend his friend's funeral (who Shaw also by the way was personally invited by Erika Kirk).
here is the full clip below
Cohen claims he "doesn't want to talk about any of the politics of it", however that's exactly what made him so angry about the situation. players miss games at times to attend funerals of close friends (not just immediate family). it is ONLY because Charlie Kirk was the friend that Gary Cohen had a problem with it.
to further the point that this was purely political... Gary Cohen is the same guy who chose to miss a Mets game earlier this year because his Great Dane died.

so according to Gary Cohen missing a game because your pet died is perfectly okay, but missing a game because a personal friend died is "weird" and "egregious".
this has to be one of the most despicable displays of unethical broadcasting from a SPORTS announcer that you can find. this is shite you would expect on MSNBC, not during a baseball game.
Gary Cohen is absolute scum of the earth for doing this. absolutely awful.

Last week, Mets announcer Gary Cohen had to say goodbye to his Great Dane.
In doing so, Cohen had to miss Friday’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, and SNY’s Steve Gelbs filled in.

Dude is trash. He has no idea how to read a room or to understand what's truly important in life.
He should get rightly fricked.

Wow. Completely unnecessary and trashy.
Just call the fricking game you psycho.

So, if you take Gary Cohen at his word, he believes a dog’s life is worth more than Charlie Kirk’s life.
There’s something wrong with these people.

If he got permission that means the front office and the manager were fine with it but the lefty announcer wasn’t. I didn’t realize the Cubs had to consult with the announcer. What a butthurt fig.

Not just the announcer... the announcer of a completely different team.
I mean... we've had announcers get fired or suspended for legitimately mis-pronouncing a word or getting nothing more than tongue-tied, for lack of a better word. Nothing will come of this, however.

Matt Shaw's response,
LINK
so once again, Shaw had permission from the team and the Cubs already clinched the playoffs. why does he need to answer to New York Mets, liberal commentator, Gary Cohen?.
quote:
Chicago Cubs third baseman Matt Shaw said Tuesday that he has no regrets about missing a game to attend the memorial for his friend Charlie Kirk, saying he had an invitation from the widow and permission from the team to attend the event in Glendale, Arizona.
quote:
Shaw said Kirk's widow, Erika, texted asking him to attend the event and that he was "not concerned at all" about any backlash toward him for going. He said he and Kirk lived in the same apartment complex in Arizona and connected through their faith.
"Whatever backlash comes is OK," Shaw said. "I feel strongly in my faith that was meant to be."

Further proof John Rocker was 100% correct

He should be fired, but both the Mets and the woke commissioner will almost certainly protect him.
The dude was way out-of-line to make ANY comment about this. Besides, given the insanity of the Left these days, he effectively just put a target on this guy's back.

Speaking of "unprecedented," that public skewering of Shaw by both announcers was highly unusual, egregious, and unprofessional. Once again, they're always guilty of what they accuse others of.

Demand that he issue an apology to Shaw as well as TPUSA on the air.
If it's not sufficient he has to be fired.

I was already rooting for the Cuns and Phillies in the National League (My Rangers pulled a disappearing act in the AL). But I'll definitely be a fan of this player going forward.
Cohen can go pound sand. Funny how the Yankees and Mets seem to be so different when it comes to these things. Must be ownership.

Sounds like he needs to get a life. Baseball is a kids game when you break it down. It’s not like he took a month/week off.
