Obtw, in case anybody wants to know, the Mets are barely holding on to the last Wildcard spot for the playoffs. Entering the last weekend of the regular season, the Mets have a 1-game lead over Cincinnati for that spot.
Cincinnati owns the head-to-head tiebreaker, so Cincy gets the spot and knocks the Mets out of the playoffs if they end up tied with the same regular season record. So, Cincy needs to make up that one-game deficit by Sunday.

Yep, Mets are in a real fight now just to make the playoffs.

And believe me, I’m making no negative value judgment on Mr. Koufax’s decision. In fact, quite the opposite, I have great admiration for Sandy, and respect him for doing it.

Yeah, I got it. Sandy and this current player both did what theybl thought was right. Cohen was trashy to weigh in on what Shaw did, and I feel pretty certain that it tells us what his politics are. Thing is, the broadcast of a baseball game should be totally free of politics.
