So you put the transgender boy in the girls room, and the other girls parents lawyer up. You put the transgender boy in the boys room, and the transgender's parents lawyer up. You put the kid in their own room, and all the other kids get upset about someone having their own room. The school is in a no-win situation here. What a mess.

Eh, not really. Just put the ACTUAL boy with the other ACTUAL boys and move on.

Need 3 different types of rooms

Boys
Girls
Transgenders

Dont treat the third type like they are choosing to be boy or girl. They are choosing transgender.

Easy for you to say. You're not the one who's gonna get hauled into court...or perhaps fired for violating a school board policy, which is admittedly a shitty policy.

Just to be clear...I also believe rooming assignment policy should be based on biological sex only. But if you think it be no big deal and wouldn't be a pretty stressful deal for those employees to have to deal with ...because of a situation they didn't create and didn't even know about ahead of time...there's no helping you.

Sounds like those that made this decision or just looked the other way need to have the absolute shite beat out of them (in a mostly peaceful way) until they decide to leave the education system

the transgender kid was from a different school. So to start with, have that kid room with kids from his own school who he knows and perhaps whose parents know.

I have seen schools mix before, especially if same district. School A has 6 girls, School B has 6 girls, max 4 kids in room.

Rather than each school getting 2 rooms, you split the 12 into 3 rooms. Purely a room saving measure, plus, it's good for kids social development to hang out with different kids at times.

The transgender kid's school didn't even tell the chaperones from the girl's school. Neither the teacher nor the principal were aware ahead of time that the kid was transgender and had to suddenly make decisions on the fly about a situation they were blindsided with.

So the real issue is with the school that the transgendered kid attended, not the school of the kid(s) who were obviously upset.

If a "parent" allows their 5th grade child to be transgender, I can 100 percent promise you they will sue the crap out of the school, district, principal, teachers, hotel, convention, etc, for those people not "respecting the transgender" or some BS.

This is what our society has become. Everyone is scared to do the right thing, because they are scared of being sued and losing their jobs.

Governments and companies both haven't exactly done a great job as of late standing up for their employees. It's much easier to throw a few employees under the bus, all in the name of diversity or something.

It's sucky but it's the reality of our moment.

OK, Zach raises hand. Happened to 10 y.o. me when I was put to bed with my 18 y.o. cousin (very pretty) during a hurricane housing shift. I didn't dare move and I didn't get any sleep.

Anybody who would trust a public school with their fifth grader on an overnight trip is complicit to some degree for whatever idiocy they inevitably engaged in.

Obligatory: “It’s just sports. Transphobia is a problem in search of a fascist solution.”

Back to this dimension: these people are just begging for violence.

Even the person with mental problems realized he was a boy.

Why didn't the school realize it?
