CNN is on meltdown mode now that news is coming out that there are no guarantees on the Immigration reform issue being taken up.

Maintaining leverage. When you have the dog in sit position you don't release him until you want him to rise. Right, Rexie?

Thank God.

I really hope the House beats the shite out of the Senate on this, and Jeff fricking Flake ends his one term a complete failure in implementing his GOPe bullshite.

Chuck gonna have to come to grips with the reality that he has zero leverage and a new opponent willing to take advantage of that reality.

Of course they won't. They have their own immigration bill they may vote on that the Senate won't take up.

I think other congressmen from the house have also said the same thing . Trump is showing the GOP how to get a good deal.

Don't forget, the Govnerment has to stay open for there to be any consideration on Daca per McConnell. I don't think the next vote on the CR to keep Government open will have any issues. Dems tried it once and didn't work out so well for them.

Maybe. In danger of overplaying the hand.

The GOP should make a good faith effort to get an immigration bill to Trump's desk. I wouldn't give up the farm, but they should at least get wall funding, more border patrol agents, limits to chain migration, and ending the lottery given their position of strength here. The Dems have to accept that and get the DACA fox with it.

If the Dems balk too much over those named pieces, they'll really get hammered in the public opinion. Now if they do make a good faith effort and accept what they have to give up and the House still won't play ball...then it's the House and GOP that look unreasonable.

It's a decent opening play by Scalise. Senate Dems and moderate Republicans should get the message that it will take consessions to conservatives to get anything through fwiw.

Not limits, but an end to it.
