When that song came out San Fran was of course under a Republican mayor.
My how things and times have changed.

A Whole Foods spokesperson said the company shut the 65,000-square-foot grocery store at Trinity Place in San Francisco's Mid-Market neighborhood 'to ensure the safety' of the store's team members

In October 2021, Walgreens said it would close five more stores in San Francisco because of organized retail theft. SFGATE reported that Walgreens had closed at least 10 stores in the city since the start of 2019. 'Retail theft across our San Francisco stores has continued to increase in the past few months to five times our chain average' despite large increases in security, Walgreens spokesperson Phil Caruso said.

Urban communism.
All the incapable people moved to the cities and are needy.

The funniest part is that progressives will still vote for other progressives and wonder why all the stores closed.

Well, yeah. The economy takes a backseat to made up social grievances for a whole hell of a lot of voters now.

From each according to his ability to each according to his laziness and drug addiction.

that is completely understandable, but when it gets to this point they may as well keep the doors locked and do all business through internet sales with a drive through pickup window to get your stuff after it has been already paid for.

It's only going to get worse for the stores that remain. Crime is becoming not criminal, and the likelihood of your store getting hit harder and more often drastically increases when all the other stores on your block have barred the doors.
Pretty soon, there will only be residences to invade and rob. The anti-firearm populace of SF won't be happy when it hits that point and they're unable to defend themselves and the police they voted to massively defund don't have any resources to help.
The progressive infiltration of SF is complete. Now, just watch as it rips itself apart until expiration.

Can't remember which big city democrat said it last week but his quote was:
'Shoplifting is the store's fault for having such high prices that people resort to stealing.'

Why would you choose to shop there? It's annoying to even ask for one item to be unlocked from a cabinet. Imagine having to do that for every single item on the grocery list.

Before Piggly Wiggly , general stores were setup to the customer presenting a list of the items that they wanted to a clerk. That clerk would then retrieve the wanted items and bring them to the counter and you would then pay.
Back to Future I guess we will go.

An old engineer friend went to college in Detroit. He said that the only convenience store nearby kept all of the food and products behind a bullet proof barrier with one of those one-way boxes to put things through.
SF is becoming like Detroit but with better weather. "Progressive" polices have a track record.

Does it look and smell like a turd?
May have seen it on the sidewalk in front of Starbucks.

They voted for this and will continue to vote for it.

This is a result of "progress" - it's what the voters wanted.

why is Gavin Newsome spending so much time in Texas and Florida while his own state burns to the ground?

To learn how to govern for his Presidential campaign.

We were in Vegas in January and saw much of the same thing in the Target near UNLV, which is a rougher part of town. It's stunning to see it on such a large scale.
