That isn't a Ukrainian uniform. He is Russian regular infantry, not Wagner group, and they are wearing red tape as identifiers. Both sides wear nearly identical uniforms.
In both languages, 'tovarisch' is said to mean 'comrade' and what prisoners attempting to surrender would say. Saying you are friendly and not giving the weapon over is a good way to get blasted. The American army doesn't even teach trying to coax a surrender in clearing a trench--you thrown the frag and then dump bullets into whatever is left alive before reaching the limit of advance.
This war sucks. It would be great if anyone had an interest to end it.

Assuming the war went nuclear, the Russian population is about 145 million. Ours is about 330 million. How do you think the casualty count would stack up?
That doesn't even include the populations of Ukraine and the rest of NATO. Plus, nukes aside, Russia's technology is far inferior to Western tech. We would own the skies and could destroy every rail and bridge from Russia to Ukraine from the air. It's hard to fight a war with no way of getting men and supplies to the front.

The Ukrainians admit they have lost at least 125k dead with another 30-35k missing and presumed dead. The wounded in any conflict is easily 3-4x the number of dead if not higher.
500k casualties is pretty on the money. We don't know Russians losses. The Russians are notoriously tight lipped about what they release and the Ukrainians lie about them to the point of absurdity. Figure they are equal at the worst but probably fewer due to the prevalence of Russian artillery causing most of the casualties and Russian gun tubes enjoying a 9:1 advantage and a 60k:6k rounds per day fired advantage.

Assuming NATO gets air superiority. Windows of air supremacy is more like it at first.

Agreed. It's not good.
The US and Western Europe see this as an opportunity to damage Russian conventional forces beyond repair for a decade plus, if not permanently. The West has a good excuse to completely upgrade its arsenal. From the West's point of view they'll gladly fight the Russians to the last Ukranian.
Russia failed to take Ukraine early on, and is now screwed. If Putin backs off having suffered a humiliating defeat he risks internal collapse. Russia is not a monolithic nation, but very different regions forced together by Moscow over the last 100 years. Historically Russia doesn't admint defeat until 500,000 Russian troops are dead. Right now the estimates say ~100,000 have died (this of course varies greatly source to source so who knows), meaning there is a long ways to go.
For Ukraine, a loss means falling under the Russian thumb for decades or longer. The Ukrainians have been there before and don't want to go back.

Between our SAMs and superior aircraft, we'd establish air superiority within a weekend. They've only got about a half-dozen of those Su-57s. First, I don't really believe that they're as stealthy as Russia claims. Once those are off the table, it's F-22s, F-35s, F-15s, Typhoons, Rafales, and Gripens against Russia's 3rd and 4th generation stuff. We'd wreck them with a quickness.

maybe i’m just missing it but with cell phones, international journalists, war correspondents, it seems like we should be seeing huge amounts of video of live action and yet we see or know little of what’s actually happening. WW2 was in the dark ages of media and there was better coverage… just seems odd

This may as well be filmed in a Hollywood back lot. This war is not nearly what it seems. I’m sure Bono will have a concert in Ukraine again soon.

Because I cannot find anything of the sort.

Purposeful obfuscation.

Try the subreddit r/UkraineWarVideoReport or r/CombatFootage and you’ll see everything you’re looking for.
Some absolute crazy footage from the war.

Sweet deal for us. 100 billion for increased global hegemony in return for a few hundred thousand dead Ukrainians and Russians.
The narrative a few years ago was against US global hegemony, boy how minds can changed based on shitty propaganda.

Russia is emptying jails into Wagner group and using them for human wave attacks. They are losing hundreds every day.
Add to that the old Stalinist means of preventing a retreat with a line behind the line to kill anyone trying to flee.

Big government knows that if you show videos of a bunch of folks killing each other in prime time that there will be a crying out for an end to the war. So big government tells big media not to show that stuff.

Those brave Ukrainian soldiers died defending their country and their families. The image of them pleading for mercy and life was hard to watch.
I pray for their souls and the Ukrainian people.
You Biden groupies can take satisfaction knowing your support of the warmonger Biden el al help make this awful disturbing incident a reality.
May they R.I.P.

It might be more nefarious than that. Hope I’m wrong and it’s just plain greed, but this seems worse. They are trying to make us weak for whatever plan they have.
