And you believed it, clearly. IF Russia had the ability to amass 300k troops in a separate offensive, the war would have ended long ago. This isn’t 1917

There have been 111,000 Russian soldiers killed in the 2022-Present Ukraine War identified via open-source data. That number alone would put the total casualty population (includes injured) around 500,000.

McGregor doesn't have reliable sources. I don't believe him. Ukranian forces has been stellar protecting their territory. Russia should have over run Ukranian forces by now.

I don't believe this number for one moment. Their reported/estimated size is only 1.5 mil active and 2 mil reservists.

You have to be incredibly stupid (or just willing to swallow without thinking) that Russia, whose total military forces number just over 1M (plus 2M reservists, of which just over 10% have been mobilized), have well over 1M casualties.

Correct - somewhat symmetrically, both sides claim about 1 million casualties for the other side. So, that you can set as the "ceiling" for total casualties by each side.

KIA, which is the most important number, IMHO, a low estimate for Russian and Ukrainian KIA is probably in the mid 100k range now (each). That's significant for a war of this length.

Frankly, I think it could be as high as 400 to 450k for both sides combined, which is an utter tragedy and wasteful loss of lives for both sides. Recall that the U.S. only had about 450k KIA for all of WWII.

A war is more merciful if it is quick, even if more violent than the "average" of something like this. Brutal and quick is more merciful that this long, slow bloodletting, again, IMHO.

Russia has 144 million in 2025. 1 million is insane, if true.

1230 days?

813 casualties a day
Almost 25k a month
290k a year

That’s a lot of casualties.

Let’s see if we invaded Mexico or Canada without any real plan, with poorly trained unprepared poorly supplied troops in broken down cars and equipment that didn’t work with a shite what would happen? What makes Russia special then?????

China could withstand those numbers, maybe India as well. But not Russia.

From Grok:

quote:

As of 2025, the Russian Armed Forces have approximately 2.38 million total personnel, with 1.5 million active-duty service members, making it the second-largest active military force globally, behind China's roughly 2 million active personnel. This follows a decree by President Vladimir Putin in September 2024 to increase the army's size by 180,000 active troops, the third such expansion since the Ukraine invasion began in February 2022. The total figure includes about 2 million reserve personnel and 250,000 paramilitary forces. The active troop count places Russia ahead of the United States (1.39 million) and India (1.46 million) in active military personnel.

Complete bullshite. No way Russia has been putting such lopsided casualty numbers on Ukraine without Ukrainian lines completely collapsing. If this were really the case this war would be over by now.

Exactly right. Look at the amount of territory Russia holds in Ukraine. They have less now than they did at one time in 2022. If they had killed Ukraine soldiers at a 20/1 ratio they would be all over Ukraine now.

I just think it’s funny that the mighty Russians are now dependent on North Korean soldiers on the front lines and Laotian soldiers behind the front lines to beat their neighbor that has 1/4the the population as them.

And to think we have been scared of Russia
