If your industry’s model is based upon removing jobs from Americans and giving them to cheap workers overseas then maybe it’s time for that industry to re-evaluate itself. That is completely against the America First mentality.

Why is it a businesses job to employ Americans? I thought businesses purpose were to make a profit?

This would also assuredly end up in us layoffs as we lose business. No need for Americans if we can toffer customers a value prop

Wasn’t your boy Obama the one implying the government assist with the infrastructure with his “you didn’t build that’? How much more does American blood paid to keep the nation free and all the taxes citizens pay for government projects entitle American citizens for jobs with companies that took advantage of Americas free markets and protection?

I would rather pay more to speak to actual knowledgeable people inside the US. My last experience with an AT&T internet issue drove the point home. The clown said my account had been hacked, my information changed to a foreign address and he needed me to install software so he could check my system.

All things you hear from a typical scammer but it was an AT&T call center. I hung up and found another phone number. Once I got someone who was speaking English they said yes, I had contacted an actual call center and it was not handled well on their end. They offered to take 50% off of my next bill which is unusual. They don't do that much anymore so they know this clown was either incompetent or actually using the call center for a side scam.

TLDR. In short, ban indian call centers. I'm willing to pay more.

Holy shite. This would could unimaginable waves across American corporations.

Our IT has been 80% outsourced in the last 2 years. I honestly don’t think that’s an exaggeration. Our Team meeting look like they’re held in Pune.

I along with another 200 got layed off from a telecom company a few years back. All IT outsourced to an India company. I think there is some sort of loop hole though. They put their(probably fake) HQ in New Mexico, run by Indians, which in turn managed teams in India.

Yeah I don’t see him actually doing this at least not abruptly all of a sudden.

Maybe gradually over time - which would be fricking great in my opinion.

Short term negative impact due to disruption to business operations would need to be considered.

Maybe punitively significantly higher targeted corp tax rates for companies that don’t comply would be a way to go about it.

I hope he actually does it, but worried it may be just a negotiating tactic to bring India to heel on other issues like not helping to apply economic pressure vs Russia to end the Ukraine conflict.

Had an issue in our payables dept. Yesterday and had to call a very large american publicly traded company to try to clear it up. Spent 2 hours bouncing between acct. receivables "specialist" who all sounded like they were in a crowded restaurant in Mumbai. Not a single one tried to help me, finally Manish told me to send all my info to the collections email.

This should be a bipartisan issue no one should disagree with. Hours on phones with Jeets in call centers is an experience no American should have to endure.

What authority is he citing for this? Seems like something that would require legislation.

They'll just outsource to the Philippines now.

yep. that or if they are mostly a tech company move their headquarters to a different country so they can still outsource tech support.

i'll clarify I am completely in favor of banning India IT outsourcing and reducing H1Bs. I just think there are too many big players involved for it to happen.

This will just immediately invest us further into AI. Call center is already an extremely low margin business....

that's true. this isn't a long term industry, we are already replacing drive throughs with AI, I'd imagine call centers will be gone within 10 years.

Shouldn't let another Indian H-1B into the country until they figure out how to stop all the fricking scam calls originating from India or by Indians.
