When will you clowns ever learn? H1Bs are good for our economy and job market, especially IT and other technical roles that the US simply doesn’t have enough available talent to fill:

Rubio was specifically addressing online racist remarks and anti-immigrant internet trolls rather than standard domestic critics of immigration policies.

Another case of someone posting comments taken out of context for a misleading bullshite purpose.

Right. If it is a government program, there is fraud. Do away with them.

There’s definitely some brainiacs that come here for school and we should incentivize them to stay when they complete their studies.

That’s all I got

I think the oil and gas industry needs more H1B talent. Even cooks on rigs make $150k easily, a job that an H1B can do just as well for $50k with free room and board.

Now imagine the savings with a rough neck or drilling engineer. Same skillset, but H1Bs work harder and are more talented.

Rubio is an oligarch puppet. Did anyone expect that neo-con to say anything different?

A few HB1's may indeed be needed but not 4 million of them plus all their wives, kids, cousins, grandparents.

Bad take IMO.

In your scenario, why not replace everyone from the rig hands all the way up to rig manager with H1Bs? Afterall, it would save so much money!

Replacement theory is 100% a thing. I walked into the BP offices the other day to meet a friend for lunch. 90% of the people I passed in the lobby who were outside smoking or chatting it up with their pals were Indian. One Hispanic and one white face out of the whole group. That isn't by accident. Our very own large US based companies are hiring people not from here.

One, this administration has drastically reduced the abuse of h1b visas.

Two, he is right, the indian working for half the market rate for 80 hours a week because the tech company holds his work visa is not the problem....the company is.

Three, used the correct way, it is an excellent way to attract top band width individuals, look no further than our unrivaled IT industry. Our aerospace field from Wernher von Braun to Elon Musk, and many other industries.

As a sidenote, it pisses me off that far more kids today can name any number of historic civil rights activists yet few know the name of the man who put America on the moon, back in the day when we had the right stuff, before we handed off to the gen x y and zed who ruined the country

It has happened in aerospace. One company tried to give a bunch of work to an Indian firm to do stress analysis on flaps. Super cheap, sent a couple engineers over to manage. They have very little experience on design and analysis of aircraft. The work had to be redone and they still gave them some work after us American engineers had to redo everything.
The accountants and leadership see the low cost and think engineers are plug and play like a lego piece.
That's easier to accomplish in the IT world or processing world but not in engineering.
Besides I would think these H1B numbers should drop drastically with AI. AI is the next low cost replacement to the low cost Indians. So the numbers need to be reduced and the fraud needs to be shutdown.

And I love these anecdotal tales of how Indians are 90% of our workforce, there are Indians everywhere in that company.

Indians hold between 385K to 500K h1b visas. There are 163 million fcking people working in the US. Where do you have all these indians working in your company, you work in an Indian restaurant

Same with Texas. Someone on here talking about how 70% of my kid's school are Indians. Indians make up 1,8% of the population of Texas, so unless you are sending your kid to a private school that only speaks Hindu.......I think you are fos.

Rubio is Mexico first but that’s actually a good thing and you’re a racist if you disagree
