See the ETA. I kind of covered that. His history of "owning the libs" is much deeper and impactful than Rubio/Vance
*ETA: and I think this confirms you were trolling last night, and if you were, bravo

why do you keep saying it must come from somewhere? why not cut the spending to offset? why do we need so many government services?
if you want public school fine, keep that. but trash, natural gas, water, electricity you all pay for. that leaves infrastructure that must be paid....other then that wtf do we "need"
sorry but rec departments, old people services and all the other BS needs to go if they dont want to pay a local sales tax
let the locals pass a sales tax if they want any non essential services
but property tax is immoral
I get the argument. Even if you cut certain non-essential services, it doesn’t replace what property taxes fund.
In Florida, property taxes pay for sheriff and fire/EMS, 911, roads, drainage, and schools — not trash or utilities, which people already pay for separately. When real-estate values fall, those revenues fall too, and there’s no income-tax base to backfill it because a large share of Florida residents are retirees with no wage income.
Core services still have to be funded.

You realize in many counties in FL tax revenue has doubled since pre-COVID due to increases in valuations, new investment properties being built and business investments in the state?
Has the cost to maintain those roads doubled? No.
Have the schools doubled? No.
Has the police footprint doubled? No.
But what has happened in my area is native Floridians are being pushed across the bridge to inland areas because they can no longer afford the combination of increased valuations, taxes and insurance.
Reducing tax exposure for exempt properties under a certain value is one of the best moves any state government could make to increase affordability and it’s possible because of the insane growth and tax base increases that happened as a result of his leadership.
Most counties aren’t going to go broke because of this, they just don’t get to pretend like their ability to increase spending without cause is mandated by God as some of them seem to believe just because growth is occurring.
I do agree that some inland counties that haven’t experienced the same explosive growth might end up adversely impacted and that needs to be studied.

I actually like Vance a lot. I think he could make a good President, but right now, DeSantis has the experience as a very effective administrator of a state. That’s valuable.
Personally, I think ideal for 2028 would be a DeSantis/Vance ticket, considering how young JD is. He’s also gaining very valuable foreign policy experience over the past several months.
Unfortunately, I highly doubt it’ll work that way. Vance will very likely do like most VPs when the President they’re under is term limited and run for the top of the ticket.

Tax the chit out of non-primary residences. FL has the largest inventory of non-primary (2nd home, vacation rentals) in the USA. Do a VRBO or AirBnB search. You will be amazed.

Don't disagree. My property taxes moving from Florida to Tennessee were about 1/3.
BUT...
Tennessee has no income tax, so the state leans heavily on sales taxes and local property taxes to fund core services. Between the state rate (7%) and local option (2.75%), we’re at 9.75% on almost everything. That’s one of the highest combined sales-tax rates in the country.

Property taxes are essentially an unrealized gains tax. I don't live in Florida but my property taxes have skyrocketed the past 6 years. Did the theoretical value of my house increasing financially benefit me in any way? Why do I have to pay more in taxes because the government says my home is worth more money now, when the only way to actually get that value is to sell the house.

What exactly do you mean he's on a "Comeback Trail" - Where exactly did he go?

I doubt he makes that mistake again
His only mistake was trying to run against Trump instead of waiting until 2028.
He would 100% be one of the 2028 favorites along with Vance and Rubio, if they also run. If at least 2 of those 3 are running in 2028, then anyone else trying to jump into the GOP field is likely just wasting their time and will be out of the primary race faster than Nikki Haley.

No tax on homes under 250,000.
You seem snarky over this. Or jealousy maybe both.
As a Floridian I strongly support. This protects the most vulnerable home owners from losing their home due to government taxation.

But, this is a major shift from local to state funding responsibility for a big chunk of services. The money has to come from somewhere.
Property taxes bring in about $60B a year, and even the first step of his plan would remove $8–12B from county, city, and special-district budgets. Full elimination would take out $25–30B annually. Without a replacement source, that means higher sales/consumption taxes or major cuts to local services.
No matter! Ronbots must be salivating right now. I mean who wants to pay taxes. In a State like Florida, heavily Republican, what better way to start the PR, "rebuild the brand" for a 2028 Presidential Bid! They're dancin' in the Village Tonight!
It would be a surprise to see Daniel Perez (House Speaker) sign off on anything substantial
Perez and the other pols owned by special interest are running out the clock until Big Lazy is Gov

A lot of "Republicans" who have entered the tent over the last 10 years are liberals and moderates who only want to be entertained. They hate conservatives and conservative policies and they care about personality and being entertained. It's like WWE for them. What's ironic is they claim to hate RINO's, yet they'll pick people like Kari Lake-Abrams and Byron Donalds over a proven conservative every day of the week.

He's still the best option in terms of administration, effective policymaking, and policy implementation of any of the GOP field.
He is, but the majority of Republican primary voters and caucus goers don't care about that. They want to be entertained. They view soundbites and tweeting as "fighting" as opposed to actually implementing conservative policies.

94.72% of those on the conservative/right side of the spectrum who despise Gov DeSantis come from the “How dare he” portion of the Trump base. They’re just too offended by the absolute gall the man had to run in a GOP Presidential Primary where they was no incumbent for Republicans.
It had more to do with Desantis shifting from appealing to MAGA voters to appealing to establishment voters, and it was an incredibly dumb decision to jump into a race he had no chance of winning against the most popular candidate by far.
It was bad decisions, not his "gall," that turned people off.

It's funny the "where is the tax money coming from" when that's not the point. It's about people, old, retired, ill or young first time owners losing their only home due to taxes. Thats it. Tax elsewhere but not a home with the tax mans knife at ones throat for your whole life.

Winning is part of the deal. So I won't say DeSantis is the obvious choice.
But if the question is "who would be the best at managing the United States" then it's DeSantis without question and anyone who disagrees is just wrong.
