Oh my.
What does Ron DeSantis have to do with Trump falling for the Covid bullshite?

Tell us again how he would have convinced 1/3 of congress to change their vote
I don't know what to tell you if you are incapable/unwilling to open up your mind to the idea that Covid relief as it was done was a) unnecessary and b) avoidable.
Let's see how honest you can be about things Trump - if Trump had fought Pelosi's bill and lobbied for 3 or 4 Republicans in the house to be primaried because they supported it, do you think there might have been more no votes than 40 Republicans that voted no in spite of Trump wanting Massie primaried?
quote:
I asked specifically about the cares act. Which was nearly unanimous and supported by Ron.
Because it was passed by an unrecorded voice vote.
I mean, why wouldn't the $2T pieced of legislation that was passed by a recorded vote and had 40 House Republicans vote against it mean more?

Trumps a liberal. MAGAts can never legitimately criticize any presidents spending again.
And DeSantis thanked him and supported the cares act. Fact. Nothing I have said in this thread is untrue. All you do is melt and deflect.

It’s not specific enough to first identify any problems nor second to propose better alternative solutions. I know you’re plenty smart enough to intuitively know that…..but likely too inconvenient or uncomfortable to put into action.
For instance you cite large and broad monetary figures, but obviously fail to break it down in any way that allows for an informed assessment. Are the figures you cite inadvisable and unjustified in whole, or would there more likely be some line items that make sense and are reasonable and logical, while specific others would make me personally say “808 is totally right about that/those - there’s simply no argument to justify it”….?
Yes I realize that may sound unreasonable to go into, I mean that’s too much information to find and possibly even unavailable in some aspects.” Perhaps even just a truncated recitation of the high points would have to suffice. But to ignore or deny the notion that various aspects and portions would be immediately noticeable as a reasonable measure, while others might on its face be an abomination…….there’s just no possibility of any credible set of conclusions to be had without being more informed. It’s a mighty huge aspect of a mighty huge episode in our history to oversimplify in such a way.

I’m going to humor you for one more post.
We knew Covid wasn’t dangerous to children. Yet we paid schools to shut down.
Why?
Because the unions wanted money and they got it in spades in the CARES act.
We knew that a vaccine for a virus was mostly a pipe dream. We knew that mRNA technology still isn’t ready for prime time. We funded it for tens of billions of dollars.
Those were political decisions rolled into a bill supposedly about a pandemic.
Now type out a bunch of shite that doesn’t mean anything to anyone but you.

quote:I don't disagree with that. I've even defended Trump on it. But, to take the leap from the inevitability of CARES being passed to Trump is anything less than a massive Keyensian when it's convenient (and an election year) ain't happening.
The cares act would have become law even with a DeSantis whitehouse.
The opposition to CARES and the other rounds of spending being smaller didn't come from the Whitehouse. It came from a few holdouts in the Senate--and the Whitehouse had a fit about it.
quote:Probably because he wasn't in Congress nor president at the time. I mean, they aren't criticizing the mayor of Brusly about it either.
Why haven’t a single on of them condemned Ron’s position on the act

Ugh. This is so tedious. Roger was, once again, melting about spending during COVID. I simply said that the cares act would have become law even with a DeSantis whitehouse. I then referenced the congressional vote and DeSantis’ own support of the act as evidence. Not a single one of you has addressed that (except Lou claiming “oh that’s different).
quote:
I don't know what to tell you if you are incapable/unwilling to open up your mind to the idea that Covid relief as it was done was a) unnecessary and b) avoidable.
I’m completely aware of that. What relevance does it have to my point that a DeSantis whitehouse would have still ended up with the cares act being law?
quote:
Let's see how honest you can be about things
Right after you admit a DeSantis White House would have stil needed up with the cares act being law. Just want to make sure we are both being honest.

Because it was passed by an unrecorded voice vote.
