Full quote from Jeff Landry special session on crime.
"Restoring the city of New Orleans and the safety in it is a tide that will lift all boats in the state," Landry said as he addressed the Legislature on Monday. "It is time to secure that entire city.”

People on here won't like it but he is correct.

However, until the Consent Decree dies a horrible death, it can't change too much.

The CD has fricked the city beyond belief

Finally.

JBE can go frick himself for many things, not the least of which was letting Nola descend into chaos under his watch.

Reading between the lines-

If we get rid of crooks in NOLA, revenue will increase there to help the rest of the state.

Shorter version - “Bitch be fricking with my money by allowing this.”

Pink haired transplants from Massachusetts and uptown MILFs will be picketing in the streets to keep New Orleans dangerous/corrupt. Jeff Landry won’t ruin THEIR city’s charm!

It’s true.

The state needs New Orleans. With high profile events coming up, somebody has to get it in order.

Politicians aren't your saviors. There's no singular or collective policy that's going to correct the crime that plagues New Orleans. It's multi generational. It starts in the way children are raised in the home. Jeff Landry can bring in state police patrols to New Orleans and throw every criminal in jail with max sentences but it's not going to change the cycle of behavior. Jail isn't a deterrent. Going to jail is just part of the culture. It's a social club. True change requires proactive not reactive action and I don't think the elements necessary are there for proactive generational correction.

and the ONLY way that can be done is to arrest and jail all the politicians in new orleans and to bring in the national guard with orders to start shooting criminals on site

Which is a change from NOPD bringing them off into a blind alley to do it.

Cannot arrest your way out of the crime, there’s no place to incarcerate them. Where are more prisons going to be built? Everyone is NIMBY about prisons and then there’s the wackos who will sue to stop the whole enforcement start to finish because it might hurt the criminals feelings.

Until the people who live there have had enough and start fighting back with vigilante justice nothing will be done to actually stop crime. The entire area is going to hit rock bottom before that happens. NOLA is Louisiana’s version of Oakland.

The most cliché saying in politics, especially when talking partnerships.

Theres about 4-500 Criminals in the city that are responsible for over 50% of all
violent crime. If you noticed or it seems didn't notice, after they took a few dozen carjackers off the streets the carjackings dropped drastically. The whole culture excuse is not based in reality. Richard Pennington did it once before. When you take the violent criminals off the streets consistently the violent crime drops drastically. Most of the time you see these crimes committed by people who have rap sheets that stretch for pages because nobody ever locks them up. When you lock the habitual violent offenders up things get better quickly.

Well, he is right... It is a shame what New Orleans is...

However, it is easier said than done and short of another major natural disaster, a nuclear even, or Jesus coming back it isn't going to happen...

Actually, Orleans Parish Prison has been operating for some time at about half capacity.

Mentally ill out of state progressives have 100% taken over and destroyed NOLA. Even a ton of politicians fit the bill. Hell, we have Compton Hood, CA running the city.

First principles.

You cannot have a thriving community without security and safety, which must be self evident, because you will not have a demand from people to live there.

If you do not have demand from people to live there, you will not have business development.

New Orleans is the one city in the state that has remotely the potential to attract outside talent, and as a corollary, outside investment. Landry has the right instinct here.
