It was pushed into existence by the current regime before they lose the House. What are the odds that it’s NOT intended to punish their political enemies? They hate you.
I love the weasel wording of the bill. "recognize". the bill is supposed to assuage the gay friendly crowd's anxiety. G-man has got your back. but in reality big daddy G has the shadow of giant boot on whoever doesn't recognize such union.

It's not a marriage. Man and women. Period. That's never gonna change.
Not trying to convince you otherwise. Believe what you want. Your opinion and religious opinion is irrelevant in this discussion.

Gay people pay taxes too.

This bill has nothing to do with private businesses.

Well, you know, all they really want is to be married and left alone.
Wink wink

Good.
Why was this even necessary? Didn't the Court rule in favor of marriage 10 years ago?

Its buried in the 5k pages of this bill
But we all know why

It's weird how Dems always name bills the opposite of what they actually do.

Protection from a supreme court review if I had to guess

Since 2015 when Obergefell was ruled on, has any church been sued to marry a same-sex couple?
Why are you limiting this to just churches?

They read 1984 and found it inspirational in all the wrong ways.

Because I am responding to the person who was saying that gay couples will now sue churches to make them perform same-sex marriages. Which I was pointing out hasn't been done once in the 7+ years since gay marriage was made legal.

Are you saying federal laws have can't be reviewed by the USSC? This law is eventually going to have a myriad of challenges, some making to to the high court.

What's is more likely to happen is that the IRS will deny tax-exempt status to Christian schools/colleges/non-profits because they do not conform to the state view on the issue.

Next, we will allow humans to marry animals....
Gays wanted the financial benefits, period. They won.

That’s not the state denying it. Wtf would someone want to spend money with a company that doesn’t want to marry them? Just go to another company. Problem fixed.

Not just financial, but also things like being considered family for things like hospital visits and whatnot.
Admittedly having not read the bill for something buried in it, I see it as doing nothing but giving Biden’s administration a perceived “victory” to take the public’s focus off of everything else they frick up
