Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

You wouldn't have a Nick Saban for 40+ years. After about 2 terms they become completely owned by special interests if they weren't already. Only long-term exception I can think of in my lifetime is Ron MFing Paul.

That would violate federal law, would it not?
Age discrimination?

Not against it, just know that isn’t suppose to happen out here in the real world.

12 is a good time frame, you have to get through 2 presidents to see how congress reacts to potentially each side.

Term limits would take care of itself if they reformed campaign fundraising back on what they were intended. Just make it so that campaigns can only receive donations from the population they will serve. No out of state donations, no outside influence.

Get back to pure grass roots campaigning and term limits will be taken care of itself.

Let’s do it. Age limits too, for all branches of the federal government.

What about 18 and 18 or 70, whichever comes first?

I don't know the true scope of that law, but we have a minimum age someone has to attain to be President, I would think for elected officials there could be age limits on such things and not violate that law. I very well may be wrong though.

Main goal is just to stop say someone that gets elected in their 60's to be able to serve the full terms or whatever is agreed on, and work until they are in their 80's/90's. If we just had term limits alone, there can still be an issue with increpid old congressment.

Not if it's a constitutional amendment - that kind of would become "federal law".

Republicans all of a sudden care about this? Ted Cruz cares about this? He's getting ready to be in the Senate for 18 years after this term. None of them are serious

6 terms House — 12 years
2 terms Senate — 12 years
2 terms POTUS — 8 years

Agree with moratorium on lobbying, serving as a “policy advisor” for lobbying and law firms, and no Chamber privileges for any former member.

I don’t believe a single member of Congress wants term limits, but I do enjoy watching their performances.

Awesome! Now freshmen congressmen can sell out on day one to the lobbyist who has been around forever and knows how things work. The lobbyist will have the know-how and probably have the legislation that the congressman will buy and use.

Until we take money out, shortening the time in Congress will not do anything to solve the problem. This is a dumb solution to the problem. The problem is lack of accountability and self enrichment. Those in office are not going to become suddenly more ethical or moral due to this.

Cut off the money, open the books and return as much power to the state legislatures as possible.
