re: Republicans are slow walking not giving us the $5,000 that's been suggested by Trump.

Why not gove everybody a 5000 credit on your taxes? But you cannot go negative (example, you owe 4800 in federal tax. You get 4800 in credit so you owe zero. If you owe 7500 in tax, you now owe 2500).

I'm open to other creative ideas. Frankly, I'd rather they allow me to be exempt from taxes for a few years, but that won't happen, so give me $5000.

I pay a ton of taxes, unlike them, and my money has been stolen for decades. I'm owed this money back, period.

if they cut spending enough and maintains taxes they could give people 5000 back without causing inflation.
Its a better idea than paying from savings.
The deficit has to be closed. If we can reduce that, then we can talk about dividends.
I voted against the current Alaska Governor because of a similar issue. He wants to expand the PFD, and its a terrible idea.

You’re giving people a stake in dismantling the bureaucracy

Their slush funds were somewhat shut off they don't want the people they serve to have money that they think is theirs.

No we want that money to go towards the deficit/debt

They should gives us $300 every month until they reach their goal. I like the idea paying down debt too. Tax payers receiving money will help GOP in mid terms.

They've been saying this on the news since this news broke. They truly think they rule over us.

In my opinion, it's not the best idea. Sure, if they send me a check, I'll deposit it... but we're supposed to be cutting cost and saving money.
It's only been a month and we're already talking about how to spend part of what DOGE "saved" us? I'd rather them keep on. Maybe have this discussion in a year or two.

Correct

So what's going to happen when they not only don't give us the $5000, but also don't use the money to pay down the debt?
NOTHING, because our populace are a bunch of naive rubes.

Speaker Johnson said no, pay down the debt.
ALL OF A SUDDEN they are worried about payiong down the debt.
Elon and Trump will do this and we can have 20% of the nice things.
I think posters here downplay it because they are all trillionaires only concerned with buying their servants a mini mansion, as they lavish their OT 10 wives with jewels.
How would ithe Thurston Howells look if they didn't say they don't need $5000?

Give us some of it or pay down the debt. I don’t mind either. Maybe the best plan is to do both.
Posted on 2/22/25 at 11:38 am to NC_Tigah
Again, why are you suddenly trusting these scumbags who've had decades to do this but haven't?
DOGE is showing how crooked they all are in DC, yet now they're all trustworthy.

Cutting their purse strings is how you keep them from ruling over you.
Dont let them buy you off for 5k.

This isnt new treasury money. It would’ve been spent by the gov or by us. So explain how it would cause inflation?

I'd much rather other options, but they aren't talking about anything but this $5K
