I'm glad to see someone else walking a similar path in trying to understand the nature of the divine. You're clearly better equipped to articulate these ideas, and you've done the research to back them up with clear, logical explanations—things I often grasp intuitively but struggle to express well. If you had a newsletter, I'd subscribe. You're doing solid work.

I enjoy your posts and discourse. Thank you.

I’ll second that. At this level of understanding it all becomes abstract and SUBJECTIVE. As it should be in a Just Creative Paradigm wherein the Creator must respect individual sovereignty. Lest said Creator became that which Lucifer accuses’ ‘Him’ of being. I.e., absolutely self-serving.

“He that seeks to know God MUST FIRST BELIEVE that He exists”. IMO, all self aware souls end up in the same place, such being absorbed back into the Energy Reservoir (Self Aware Version). What matters - or doesn’t- to the Individual is how they feel about that Process. Absorption for a Believer would be union and unbridled expansion with God - while retaining some relative degree of Self/Soul - and all the creative glory therein. And for a non-believer a simple dissipation of their ‘Self’ consciousness. Either way both Entities surrender their Self, as per Jesus’s statement that “he who seeks to save their self, shall lose it…”.

I do not know what happens if a soul were to embrace Universal Love but deny (on whatever basis) the existence of a Self Aware Energy Reservoir/God or The Son, as problematically described in highly contentious Biblical lore. But I do think the absolute Truth is coming soon, as this issue is the very core to Existence vs Non-Existence (NE being an impossibility). In both a personal and universal scale.

Seems I remember hearing that Lucifer (It’s idea and assessment of God) was some sort of legit and philosophical testing power for God. Even God must abide by The Word, as “in the BEGINNING was the Word…”. I think that is true. Both Lucifer and Squirrel do good work towards that end. I appreciate both. But as per my request and commitment, I remain in the hands of Humanity’s duly appointed Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. One Third of the Godhead. Thank you Jesus.

To each their own. Moving towards Love or away from it is what matters. IMO.

John Calvin: All that we have attempted is to renew that ancient form of the Church which was at first given by the Apostles, and afterwards, in a good measure, kept and preserved by the primitive Fathers, but which was at last completely effaced and destroyed by the Pope and his faction."— Letter to the King of France (Prefatory Address to the Institutes of the Christian Religion)

"Our agreement with antiquity is far closer than yours... all we have done has been to look to the ancient Church, and to try to restore it to its original form... As to our doctrine, we hesitate not to appeal to the ancient Church."— Reply to Sadoleto

Martin Luther: "I say that we have not done anything new, but have only brought to light again what was ancient and what should be the common property of all Christians... We have restored the true ancient Church."— Against the Spiritual Estate of the Pope and Bishops

John Jewell: "We have not forsaken the Church, but the error of the Church... We have come as near as we possibly could to the Church of the Apostles, and of the old Catholic bishops and fathers... and have directed our drama not only in doctrine but also in the sacraments and the form of public prayer, according to their rites and institutions." -- Apology of the Church of England

Dense, indeed.

The genesis narrative is not to be taken literally in the sense of 24 hour days and 7 day week.
Life on other planets doesn’t really negate nor conflict with the Bible.

Neither does evolution…

That said, The Daily Mail is not always the most reliable source…

It seems that the author went out of his way to make sure we knew they were literal days, given the use of “morning and evening”, and a number given to each day. Jesus also understood and taught marriage as being “from the beginning” (of creation).

I get why it’s hard for people—especially Christians—to believe the Bible about this due to wanting it to fit the current scientific consensus, but the Bible is pretty clear about creation.

There is cringe from both sides and speaking of uneducated someone who believes the earth is 6,000 years old is the very definition of uneducated. The ‘atheist’ aren’t the ones using the mental gymnastics either trying to justify bible scriptures. Also, what do ‘atheists’ have to lose with this discovery? People are focused too much on Christianity all religions have more to potentially lose than ‘atheist’ do which is why you are seeing the ridiculous amount of contortions and mental gymnastics from that group.

I think you are conflating knowledge and belief.

I’m quite educated in the evidences on this subject and understand completely why so many believe the earth and universe are much older than a few thousand years. Not believing in an old earth is not due to a lack of education.

There’s no need to take this personally.

I’ll ask again who has more to lose here with whatever discoveries are revealed? ‘Atheists’, Agnostics, or people from the five major religions in the world? It’s a pretty simple answer. And ‘atheist’ is thrown around on here way too much just like the word racism it’s been abused so much it has lost all meaning.

Let me call Donald Trump on the telephone real quick and ask him. I'm sure he will snap right to it once I tell him that tigerdroppings user 'PerfectCircle' is tired of waiting.

Just hold tight, I'll update this thread with his response.

I’m providing clarification. There is a natural assumption that a young earth Christian, as I am, can only be one out of ignorance, stemming from a lack of education. The assumption is that the evidence for old ages is so overwhelming that the only way to disregard it is due to a lack of education.

I’m explaining that such an assumption is misguided and inaccurate, as there are many Christians who reject the conclusions of old ages after reading and studying the evidence (being educated on it), because conclusions also include presuppositions and prior assumptive commitments that influence how each person interprets the evidence.

Then you must also believe that the Earth is Flat because that is what the Old Testament says, and it dove-tails with what scholars know regardig ancient cosmological beliefs.

And don't try to "Foo-splain" to us why the Bible doesn't really say what it says about that, because you'll be using nonsense word salad to do that.

There are good reasons why the topics are not the same with the same required belief, but I’ve gone through that before, several times, if I recall correctly.

What I find interesting about you in this conversation is that you are so big on tradition, yet openly mock the position that was held by most of the Christian Church for the last 2,000 years. It seems like an inconsistency to me.
