But the clusterfrick that continues is costing the American people more and more and looks fricking terrible.
Who knows how many billions we are up to at this point, was 20B over a month ago. 18 dead soldiers now. Gas ticking back up and is about 1.25 over where it was back in Jan/Feb, but still down from the 1.50 up from a few weeks back.

20B is nothing. Anyone worried about the cost is just playing politics. We blow 20B on random programs all day.
Given all the facts and scenarios today and price that into Feb before all this started and the experts would put oil at $150-$200. We are at $80-$100.
No doubt, Iranian leadership is willing to let Iran suffer, much like WW2 Germany in 44-45 and the cost on all sides in 44-45 was high.
It is the will of the Iranian leadership vs the fickle American public and a polarizing US president.

I’m not sure who exactly DJT still believes is someone worth “negotiating” with and striking some kind of deal.
Has hardly been any time elapsed since DJT had finally concluded and announced the Iranians couldn’t be trusted and would not be honest partners in holding up their end of any deal.
Now back to threats and promises of doom if negotiations don’t resume.
DJT gives the appearance of someone who would do anything he can to avoid having “to finish the job” and what that would likely entail. He’s desperately looking for a way where that’s not the only option left.
I’m not sure if he believes the continued alternating week to week negotiate vs threat still makes him appear decisive and strong but I would suggest it’s having quite the opposite effect and making him appear indecisive and weak on this particular matter.

It was beyond stupid. It was the height of arrogance and now he's stuck. His ego will not likely allow him to negotiate to any degree Iran would accept. If he sends in ground forces - which he very well may do after the mid-terms - it will be a years long, high casualty engagement we probably can't win... at least before the body count loses the GOP the 28 election and the left pulls out. Then the GOP will be officially finished for probably many years in the White House with diminishing returns in congress. If he's smart, he finds as graceful a way to disengage as he can. I no longer think he's smart. Or worse, he's owned.

I’d believe that too if I didn’t constantly see Iran jumping at the gun to restart the conflict at any and every opportunity.
It doesn’t matter how much damage you can do if your opponent is eagerly waiting to absorb it.

I was lambasted for asking the PT forum for an appropriate US vs Iran strategy going forward and I think the consensus is to not question the current US military strategy.....trust the plan, trust the military strategists and pony up an additional $500 billion for the annual Defense.....we're looking at a defense budget of nearly $1.4 trillion.

I suspect the only reason Americans care about what’s going on in Iran is they’re being inconvenienced at the gas pumps. People will bellyache about high fuel prices on their way to Starbucks.
