This guy talks more and achieves less than anyone I know
If he actually ever passed a bill that would benefit me, then I would listen to what he said. But he just talks. Heres all the proof you need. He talks so much that he has to steal other peoples thoughts, because hes ran out of his own

It was discovered that Rand had plagiarized from Wikipedia part of a speech in support of a Virginia gubernatorial candidate Evidence soon surfaced that Paul had copied sentences in a number of his other speeches nearly verbatim from other authors without giving credit to the original sources, including the rebuttal speech he had given to the president's 2013 State of the Union Address.
In addition, a three-page-long passage of Paul's book Government Bullies was taken directly from The Heritage Foundation. When it also became apparent that a Paul op-ed in The Washington Times, as well as related testimony he had given before the Senate Judiciary Committee both contained material from an article that had been published in The Week a few days earlier, The Washington Times said that the newspaper would no longer use Paul as a contributor to the paper

I thought Rand was one of these people who wanted to abolish income tax and go to a national sales tax based on consumption? Tariffs are a better version of that. It’s the first step to lowering income taxes.

Conservative Republican politicians are every bit as bad about pandering to their base but never doing anything to help them.
Sad fact is there are a lot of folks on the right that laugh at how the Dems have their base fooled not realizing the same is happening to them.
Paul is just another in a long line that folks used to love but in reality they were POS
Bush (1 and 2)

Wake up folks.

These tariffs are nowhere near enough to eliminate federal income tax.

Yep. Us republicans are too smart to fall for their RINO traps. Liberals are either complicit or don’t realize they are being completely played and are deep state fodder.
Rand Paul can go frick himself. He’s just another in a long list of people who hate America. Thank God for DJT, and may he keep exposing every single one of these despicable deep state pieces of shite.

quote:No. Far worse. If the tariffs "work" you lose your tax base. If they don't, you're overpaying for goods you could have gotten for cheaper (and still taxed with a VAT)

It's already been shown that foreign manufacturers are eating most of the tariffs.
How so? The start date for the tariffs that will cost the most is a moving goalpost that just got extended once again.

You’re still falling for the Epstein list liberal hoax? Good Lord

Yep. "When the price of everything goes up," there will be an epiphany.
I’m surprised there isn’t more discussion of the double taxation that tariffs impose. If the tariffs increases the cost of goods, then sales tax on the purchase also goes up. The result is double application of tax.

This is one of the few times where Rand isn't being consistent.
He just celebrated Apple working with Corning to produce glass in its Kentucky plant, bring a lot of growth to the area.
This is an effect of the tariffs.

Scott Bessemer has said several times that they aren’t seeing increases on the consumers. They are seeing manufacturers eating the cost of the tariffs

Worst case these are consumption taxes, which are flat.
Everyone pays their fair share. None of this 50% of the population getting a free ride horse shite.
But totally avoidable. Just buy stuff produced here.

Not when we don't have to pay income tax. If Trump pulls that off it will be the greatest move in presidential history.
We're not anywhere close to being able to replace income taxes with tariffs. This is just silly wish casting.

I’m surprised there isn’t more discussion of the double taxation that tariffs impose.
For example, I'm surprised the same folks (perhaps you were one?) throwing raging, spastic, conniption fits over cuts in corporate taxes in 2017 and their extension in OBBB, are now throwing raging, spastic, conniption fits over implementation of tariffs. I'm surprised those folks are not absolutely ashamed of the irrationality inherent in their position. I'm surprised economic ""experts"" as well as the FedChairman stupidly refer to tariffs as inflationary.

Or, "outgrow" our debt.
All these ridiculous ideas just to keep spending money we dont have or that slows down the economy..

About time we stop allowing this one way street.
You realize all tariff costs are passed along to the end consumer right? You're ok with a blanket 15% increase in prices on things we import?
Just wait until union labor is replacing those imports. 15% will be a drop in the bucket.
