Suspending congressional pay has zero effect on the government to operate and has zero effect on anyone that's been in Congress more than a month. Seemingly there are better things to do?

Am I missing something? Seems like Rand was suggesting instead of passing a grandstanding bill that says members of congress (who pretty much all have multiple sources of income and whose congressional salaries account for only a part of their net worth and income) won’t get paid during a shutdown so they can say “look at us!! We’re sacrificing too!” would rather focus time, energy, and political capital on one that makes sure everyone is paid. I don’t see an issue here. Then again I also have enough sense to know that Rand’s $225kish salary as a United States senator isn’t something he’s losing sleep over getting or not.

I mean I don't think I agree with him exactly, but it's nothing crazy. Even if/when we get these government programs shut down, there has to be a transition type period rather than just throwing people on the street.
I think they should be forced to eliminate jobs rather than not paying them.

Look at all the deflection from Rand supporters. This "principled" guy will watch federal employees not get paid but still demands his overvalued share of the taxpayer money be delivered on time.
At the least, these people should be able to admit that Rand is being a selfish prick. A principled person would not sit unscathed in his ivory tower telling us how honorable he is while the workers go without.
