This is from the Fairfax County, VA public schools website regarding 'learning pods,' an alternative form of education that is taking off across the country in response to the widespread closures of schools and move to virtual learning.

'While FCPS doesn’t and can’t control these private tutoring groups, we do have concerns that they may widen the gap in educational access and equity for all students. Many parents cannot afford private instruction. Many working families can’t provide transportation to and from a tutoring pod, even if they could afford to pay for the service.'

Never missing an opportunity to stoke the racial and 'income inequality' left-wing narratives, and afraid of the competition. And still not understanding that parents of all backgrounds will sacrifice much to insure their children receive the best education.

P.S. No mention of how those 'working families' are supposed to provide supervision and care for their children who are not going to school. Hmmmm!

That can’t be real.

They are telling parents that they are concerned their children are being educated because other children may not be?

As in a better alternative is that no children are educated ?

If everyone can’t do it, no one should. That is basically what they are saying.

Nice use of the guilt card. Only works if you feels guilty. In this case, my child’s welfare/wellbeing/future trumps liberal ideas of “fairness.”

Lets hold your kid back from their full potential because fairness.

I saw a report on this that mentioned the tutors were piblic school teachers. That is the issue. If they care so much about poor kids, they can tutor them for free.

My 18 month old just started a nanny share instead of daycare since we can't do 2 week shutdowns. I'm really liking it so far, and could get behind the same for my older kid if private schools start getting forced to shutdown

We can't let some students get left behind, we must let all students get left behind? These folks are in charge of educating young people?

We've been offering free zoom sessions about homeschooling. Seats filling up every time and more sessions requested.

Still stuck on the kindergarten idea of "hope you brought enough for the whole class".
