PT conservatives, are you ok with Trump granting DACA people some form of legal status.

I'm not opposed to allowing DACA people to remain in the US under some type of restricted legal status but I'm not for full blown amnesty for DACA illegals. I'm also not ok with allowing their law breaking parents to remain in the US without some severe restrictions. For example, they would never have the right to vote in any government elections and I would limit their children (DACA) to local and possibly state elections.

Save the taxation without representation BS, these people are not US citizens. If they want the privilege of full US citizenship go through the proper process.

Up vote for yes down vote for no.

yes, I do not think a deal is possible without some kind of compromise on that issue

Not really. I’d rather deport them but that’s not happening.

Yes. I think some sort of path for them to gain citizenship is needed.

I honestly don't know what to do with their illegal parents. They should never get the ability to vote though.

They are not kids and they are well assimilated by now so I’m for some kind of compromise on the issue as long as we get the wall.

Use DACA as a chip now or just wait DACA out till it becomes unconstitutional is the real question.

If your data suggests DACA is truly localized to heavy blue states anyways, trading it before it becomes worthless allows you to “deal” on something that cost you nothing.

I still extremely Dems to just ignore it and the narrative next week will just be more of what we heard this week.

If it gets a wall built its fine by me. It's about making a reasonable deal, and I see that as not just reasonable, but generous from the conservative side. Frick Pelosi and crew if they won't play ball to fix our country.

And you actually stand to gain something from it

I'm okay with a reasonable path to citizenship, as long as other reforms are put in place (including a wall) so that we do not have to continually deal with this every few years.

Not for $5.7 billion. They approved $50 billion a few years ago. This whole thing is a farce.

I'm not happy with it either but I know we're not rounding all these millions of lawbreakers up and deporting them. The conservative goal should be to limit their political power because +70% are going to vote Dim if given the chance.

I have zero problem with the illegals that don't have a criminal record, charges or happen to be receiving government benefits from staying and becoming citizens as long as they complete the normal process of becoming a citizen.

Illegals with a record, charges or receiving benefits can GTFO and Never come back across our soon to be Glorious wall.

Rewarding criminal activity is wrong and giving more votes to Democrats is stupid.

Hopefully, Trump isn't stupid and does something that a stupid establishment Republican would do.

I support them having the full rights of their non US citizenship, and look forward to them returning to their homelands to teach their failed societies and cultures the superior American methods!

Only for the full wall funding of 20 billion.

5.7 billion gets 1/4 of DACA legal status

Trump should announce he's putting the military on the border and is waiting for Pelosi to get back from her vacation .

I hope you wind up being correct, because we ALWAYS seem to come out looking like fools & caving

most Americans favor some kind of plan that shows leniency and compassion to the "dremers"

and Trump cannot afford to cut a deal with zero wall funding

the solution looks like a no-brainer; except that top Dems in power and their sycophants in the media are hell bent on making sure that Trump does not get a PR win (which is laughable, since their own hysteria keeps delivering win after win to Trump anyway - see yesterday as "Exhibit A")

we keep hear two questions that, on the surface, look troubling for Trump

1) Why did Trump not accept the deal that had funding for the wall last year? Rush and Fox & friends are driving policy

this one is easy, as that talking point is a load of crap

that deal cemented "chain migration" as policy & that is a no-go for Trump. It also gave the Dems ALL of their concessions on the front end, yet spread border security over 10 years - we have seen that movie before & the ending never gets any better...

2) Why is Trump shutting the government down NOW? Why did he not get this done when Republicans controlled both houses?

This one is also easy to answer, and it is not necessarily flattering for our side (at least in part). For one, we could not get the 8-10 Dem votes we needed from Senate Dems & McConnell was not willing to employ the "nuclear option" over regular budget issues (which seems silly, as the Dems will certainly not return that favor once they regain power). Secondly, the optics of a hard line stance by Trump before now would have been brutal when the Repubs were in power - had he employed the shutdown tactic before, we would have actually seen the "blue wave" that leftists were fantasizing about. Bottom line? Trump now has a "foil" so he has more freedom to draw a hard line
