OK, as an old school Catholic who left the church 30 years ago I need to add some insight here. It's not lib/con politics. It's a way of judging right/wrong and relativism.
Think of jury selection data. If your client is guilty of murder you do not want people from certain occupations...like a military vet. It's because those people have mindsets that are sharp line instead of fuzzy. They see right/wrong very clearly vs. moral relativism or subjective interpretation.
Ask: 'Is it ever OK to have sex with a rabbit?'
Old School Catholic: 'No.'
Protestant: 'Well, I'd need to know the circumstances.'

The arrogance of this guy. He thinks he's the smartest guy in the room at all times. He thinks no one could see through his line of questioning.
The worst part about this is how many schools is this happening in? I would think it is a lot more than even most people realize. He gives away all of the things we already knew but no one would ever admit to.

This is where I landed as well.
No real value in good men fighting over doctrine when they share a common enemy - the indoctrination of our children.
How well do we know the teachers that are leading our children for the bulk of their school days, and in the environment intended for them to learn?
This is the wisdom that lead me to changing my life, my budget, my house, etc to be able to homeschool my children.
I asked myself how important it is to live where I live, how I live, etc compared to the path of my childrens’ lives being influenced more by a teacher that I do not know well enough to be able to trust.
I couldn’t afford to homeschool under my previous housing and lifestyle situation. I had to change a lot.
I will have no regrets.
