My dad got covid about 3 weeks ago and went to the hospital. They tested him at the hospital and sent him home - said he was doing fine. Three days later my dad was at his house and we sent neighbors to check on him because he stopped responding - lives alone and out of town from me - and his 02 levels were at 64 - dangerously low so we had him rushed to the ER. He was put on breathing treatments and steroids and was there for about 4 days when I get a call that they had put him on a vent - supposedly he had agreed to it but they didn't call anyone to ask - they just vented him. They prescribed him coagulates, remsidivir, and a sedative because he was fighting the vent. So he's basically been in induced coma for 2 weeks now, his lungs haven't recovered - 70pct vent and his kidneys started failing - dialysis and no one has been allowed to see him or visit him in the covid ward.

We called this morning and asked if we could give him Ivermectin because they are basically saying he's going to die and there is nothing left to be done. They told me (The Doctor) it was too late to prescribe Ivermectin and he's not going to make it and that we should get a DNR on him because soon his heart is going to give out.

Im not sure what else to do. He's at Erlanger in Chattanooga Tennessee.

Thoughts sent your way. He might be in a coma, but I strongly urge you to talk talk talk to him at his bedside until he is gone.

I am sorry this happened to your family. Just remember it’s okay to be sad and don’t punish yourself.

I'm sorry to hear about that. I'll pray for him and for you. Maybe the Lord will be gracious and have him recover, but even if not, I pray that He would give you comfort during this time.

That's bullshite! If he's gonna die then what's the harm and letting him try an inexpensive drug that may work?

Sorry to hear about your dad.

I am so sorry for what you're going through!

My mom passed away on Aug. 29. We never sent her to the hospital because she also had dementia and we didn't want her to die alone. She died at home surrounded by those she loved and who loved her. It's devastating!

Please know that our prayers go out to you and your family!

Yeah I brought up "Right to try" laws and asked to speak to patient advocacy but I haven't heard anything back. Going to call again tonight. It's been a miserable experience.

I’m sorry to hear this. We lost my father in law last week. He had a stroke while recovering from covid.

I hope they let you sit with him. I’m convinced he can hear you. Think about how important that would be to him. Screw the hospital if they don’t.

Demand it no matter what the Dr. says.

I was just up at my dads place a week before he was diagnosed with my two sons so at least he got to see us before he got sick but he's all alone and right now no one can see him. Covid wards are super restrictive on visits. I can call him and they will put a phone up to talk to him but that's all we get and he's unresponsive. Has been for over a week.

This drug is hard on kidneys.

I would ask them to throw the kitchen sink at him. Support the immune system. Dame shame they wouldn't try the ivermectin. Who cares if they don't try it at this point.

Sorry OP man :(

The hospital probably doesn't allow visitors. :-(

Sorry about your dad and prayers for you and your family.

Remdesivir has a history of organ failure with every disease its been tested against.
