Ok, pass a constitutional amendment. You know, the process.

Cause I'd love another FDR. WTF? I'm on your side, supposedly, but you create a lane for both parties, and you don't understand the repercussions five or ten years from now that will hurt (R).

Hell I don’t even agree with 2 terms. You spend the first 2 years getting Shiite done and the remainder campaigning.

The Confederacy got one thing right…one, 6 year term.

I’d prefer an amendment barring one from seeking federal office after the age of 65.

Honestly, I have no problem with someone who worked their whole life, then finally decided to run for Congress upon retiring at 65 or so. I just certainly don't want anyone holding the office of President, VP, Congress or Supreme Court Justice beyond 79 years old.

However, if the choice is an amendment allowing a President a 3rd term or an amendment barring anyone older than 65 from running for federal office, then I absolutely agree with choosing the latter.

I think one 5 year term is enough. If you can’t get things done in 5 years you don’t need more time

Maybe we need a rule like the British Prime Minister. Except that there are 4 year max terms. Once a year, Congress can have a vote of No Confidence in the current President and calling for a new election and a new 4 year term. The only caveat is that the President has to run in the fall with a 6-9 month election process of party primaries. The sitting President can run for that election provided he has not served more than 5 years previously since the presidential term resets every No Confidence Vote or 4 years.

IMO

2 terms house - 4 years total
1 term senate - 6 years total
2 terms president - 8 years total
Nah.

House - 4 year term (all they do now is raise money for their next 2 year term) 2 terms max.

Senate- Same as House, 4 years and 2 terms. 6 years is way too long.

Pres - Same as now.

Obama would still be President right now if that was the case…. Think I’ll pass on that.

Can’t wait to see the flip flopping when Trump suggests this in a few years.

“He doesn’t really mean it.”

“But if not him then who? Gavin Newsome?”

“The 22nd Amendment is not self-executing and we need an Act of Congress.”

He’s right, people do live longer than when that amendment was put in place.

All the more reason to have it.

You have to explain what you're trying to accomplish. The PM system in UKI has produced little good since Thatcher. Sunak is a Tory? lol.

I'm not an advocate for the Chinese 400 year horizon when it comes to politics, but ooh boy, we're not good. This speaks to US Navy construction, in the foremost of my mind. The Navy keeps us as rocking as we can, like the British Fleet kept England alive for centuries. Roll out a hundred destroyers in five years. Send them everywhere.

AEGIS and naval artillery fix almost anything, if you have enough. Let's have enough.

we need more term limits, not less....especially in the Senate and House. No one outside of the progressive loony bin wants an occasional Obama presidency.

Just read an article that hypersonic missiles are the end of carrier power.

I don’t see how that doesn’t include the rest of the Navy as well at some point.

The next wars will be heavily based from space.

We are already developing orbiting space defenses. They deploy then wait for instructions on what to kill in space.

4th - Obama would have beaten Trump in 2020 and would be going for his 4th as President in 2024.

My goal would be to have an ability to call an election mid term if Congress feels that the President is doing a poor job.

No what vote would trigger this is another question, a simple majority vote in each house, or a vote of electors where the Senators and House Members act like electors and if more than 270 vote No Confidence, then a new election is held.

That way it gives Congress another check on the power of the Presidency like an impeachment but without having to have a trial and needing 67 votes in the Senate.

Now will this get political fast, it may, but it also puts power in voters to give them an opportunity to vote on a new candidate or keep the incumbent.
