Exactly. They put in some pretty coercive measures to prevent any more Brexits. If you have to go to that, then maybe your union isn't that great after all.

it's pointless arguing with a clown who thinks that exterminating huge numbers of some of the most productive people on earth in European wars, then handing the keys to genocidal commies, only to fight endless wars in the aftermath was the "last legit military action". He can't draw any meaningful connections here. He really and truly needs to believe something divine was at play in the second world war.
Peace be the journey, baw.

We were on the wrong side in WW2

Entirely different conversation from whether or not our involvement was easily avoidable
You guys are also conveniently refusing to mention that China was not a communist (or unified) country at the time, enjoyed good relations with the United States, and was ruled by the same party that has ruled Taiwan for 7 decades since (excepting their current administration)

It was beyond easy to avoid, we live on the other side of the globe. No one was coming over here.

We need allies is the point. If it means we have to spend money than so be it.

Wait...so no German U boats sank any American merchant vessels bound for Europe?
And our overseas possessions? We were supposed to just let Japan take the Philippines?
What about ten years later, after Britain is out of the way (since we didn’t help)? What happens when they moved on Hawaii? Where was our rubber going to come from, the Japanese were not taking the DEI to share.
To pretend that there was just absolutely no reason we should ever have been pulled in is purposeful obstinance

Maybe world war 2 but that’s a stretch. You are out of your arse if you think the start of world war 1 had anything to do with the USA.

Absolutely nothing in my comment comes anywhere close to saying that. Our isolation caused us to be unprepared when we did enter the war.
Our guys were still wearing friggin hats into conflict when they got to Europe in 1917. Our isolation absolutely had our military largely a decade or more behind the other major powers at the time we entered.
Hell, the Army was still playing cowboys and Indians in Mexico during the First World War.

You are in a small minority with your views

The US could have easily come in as the strongest position and mediated the conflict. The problem is that the US government was as corrupted then as it is now.
WWI and WWII were not undertaken as some effort of healthy national policy. The exact opposite, and tens of millions more good men and women died because of it.

Feel free to bump whenever a move to join the ICC gains steam. I’ll gladly eat crow. There is zero political will for it in the public or in the leadership of either major party.
