Went to Nogales once. Had a beer and came back. End of my travels to Mexico.

Went there for business. We stayed in a hotel on the American side, and would ride across in a van every morning to the factory.

On the way home, we were required to be dropped off about 2 blocks from the border crossing and walk the rest of the way.

That walk was scary. I felt like I was in a post-apocalyptic movie. There was a huge presence of Mexican soldiers with rifles, and tons of shady looking characters just milling around.

No one ever hassled us, but I never felt safe.

I've been to a lot of other places in Mexico without encountering any issues, except once in Monterey there was a gun battle between the cartel and the police in a major intersection that we passed through twice a day.

Sounds like ransom bait. Good luck to him.

You would have to be a total idiot to go vacation in Mexico in 2026.

Our two idiots from Church just got home this past week. They were on the Pacific side at some resort. Don't recall the name. Not even sure where all of this mayhem is taking place.

This thread turned into a subtle brag session of “my relative vacationed in Mexico recently and this is the TShirt they brought back for me”

If they brought me a tshirt, I would know where they went (and we are not related).

The biggest issue for me traveling to Mexico, is getting to and from the safe resorts.

I have been to Mexico once to see Chichen Itza and Uxmal. No plans to return.

felt as safe as NOLA or parts of Houston

Ughhhh....

Correct. I was probably safer in Torreón

Police trucks with mounted 50 cals is not an unusual sight there. We need to roll those around NOLA IMO

Why don’t you try going somewhere other than a resort?

I think Cozumel is probably safe now. Been there many times and I doubt the cartels are boating over.

You should take some kids on vacation. Don’t steal them. Procreate.

I think I would choose Costa Rica over Mexico anyway.

canceled all further flights today to Puerto Vallarta.

It's a shame the cartel ruined Puerto Vallarta

Glad I went back when it was safe. It's such a beautiful part of the world

I went on a scuba trip to Club Med back when they had their Sonora Bay location. It was awesome. Today, there's no way in hell I'm going to Mexico for anything. There are too many other options, much nicer, no more expensive, much safer, and with beaches just as beautiful if not more so.

It's rapidly getting to the point where if you go to Mexico for a holiday and something bad happens, that's on you.

We were there this past August to go diving in Cozumel. Walking out of the airport, there were 2 different occasions of someone trying to scam us. Everything on the resort was top notch. I walked about two miles on the beach off of resort property. It may have been nothing, but here was a feeling in the air that I couldn't shake. It was the same feeling I had walking to my care when I lived in the hood in college. I didn't belong there and everyone looking at me let me know it.
